Lafayette, Sat., Nov. 12, 6p, FS-2

Well the turnovers were down..

Agree with assessment…too many open 3s given up by defense and too much reliance on long jumpers (many very early in shot clock (both are chronic problems)…echo your comments re: predetermination to shoot on part of a number of guys…

Need to implement edict that guys must seek a layup in 1st 10-15 seconds of shot clock.

Thanks. Pinzon especially seems like he feels he has to prove he can score to earn his spot and help the team. Maybe there’s some truth to that, I just hope he gets the chance and gets comfortable enough out there to just play and let it come naturally.

Rivera, a frosh for Lafayette, has played better than any SJ freshmen. If he learns to shoot free throws he will be in the portal for a bigger program next season.Tive

Rivera got a lot of attention from the Announcers . Tarik and the other guy . Sure , he looked good . He got a lot of minutes . They liked his size and. Athleticism. Other than free throws . But , he’s probably the best player on the Leopards . Storr didn’t get that much PT and he is being fit into a Rotation for CMA with a plan . If Storr was on Lafayette or other teams not as deep as ours , he would likely impress just as much . Just my opinion . A point to consider though is , Rivera is from NJ somewhere , why wasn’t he on our Recruiting lists? He’s definitely got BE talent .

It does. It cuts off at 10. So, they did good winning by 10+.

And I don't care what anybody says, that Lafayette team is not that bad. I watched Georgetown vs Coppin State the other day, they looked better than both of those teams, in that game defense was truly optional.

This is now 2 high majors Lafayette has competed with, I'm not saying they are a tournament team or even an NIT team, but if they pull a few upsets and finish in the middle of the pack in their conference it wouldn't surprise me, they got some shooters and they play hard. And that Rivera kid is going to be a star. He's going to be somebody's prize in the transfer portal after this season or next season.
Lafayette is not a bottom feeder team for their league. They moved the ball really well. Good first-year coaching. They will surprise.

Not seeing a lot of spark or team cohesiveness just yet. The talent level is there. We have 3 players that are good passers and some others that are shoot first guys. Jones and Storr are major threats on the offensive end, and hope they can add the pass off the dribble to increase their effectiveness. So much is dependent on Curbelo, as his ability to shake his man and pass or shoot makes his an enormous, difficult to guard, weapon. However, seeing him trying different eye wear to help deal with post concussion issues is a bit troubling. Some things to work on for sure, but seeing flashes of what we can be already.

Definitely a lot of talent
I agree about lacking the cohesiveness
They’ve been practicing together since the summer. Seems something is missing

Jones might be the most efficient best player we have had since Sealy.
Worry about Soriano against athletic bigs but they have to make a concerted effort to keep him involved. Feel that was one of Anderson’s biggest mistakes last year. Seems to have learned from it though.
Like Posh and Curbelo, not sure either shoots well enough for it to work though.
Like WUSU role this year. Plays well he plays, plays crazy he sits.
Really like Storr and Pinzon hope they continue get minutes.
Mathis seems to have put work into his shooting.
Not sold on Stanley as 1st big off bench and worry about who will be number 2 scorer.
Jones joins esteemed group of my favorite Johnnies
WUSU trying to stay off the Geno Lawrence list.
