Knicks trade Porzingis
ESPN now reporting 2 first rounders are included though it's likely 2021 and 2023.
These will practically be second rounders since we can expect the Mavs to fight for championships. There's a reason the Knicks have the worst team in the NBA.

Am I the only one who likes this trade? The guy does not want to be here and is injury prone. We free up enough cap space for 2 max deals and get a decent point guard to boot. If it means we can sign Kyrie and a KD or Thompson and by some miracle get the 1rst or 2nd pick damm this will be a different team next year.

I would have loved it if they got the first rounder for next year. Knicks should have insisted on it and you know Cuban would have caved to have Porzingis and Doncic. Cuban practically fetishizes Nowitzki and there is no player in the last 20 years closer than Porzingis.

Dallas does not have their first rounder this year, and NBA rules state that you can't trade the first rounder in back-to-back years, so 2021 was the earliest the Knicks could get.

I think, it's too early to judge. This is not like the Nets-Celtics trade, where the Nets traded their future for a quick fix. Once they didn't win after two years, you knew they were dead.

It's too early to judge, IMO. It depends on who they get in the end. The Knicks history is not good in these spots, but in reality, its' too early.

In theory I agree with you but in practice you know it's gonna blow up in their face.

Knicks will use that 2021 first round pick to draft Frederic Weis Jr.

I though Kyrie already signed a new deal with Boston, and why would KD come?

He won't be draft eligible until the 2023 pick.

Hahahaha

Silly of me to assume any team had a first rounder these days. They have on next year they can trade right? The longer they push out the picks the worse it is for the Knicks as you'd expect Doncic and Porzingis to win big.

For those of you that watch the NBA, do Matthews and Jordan have any value to playoff teams? I know both were pretty good players just a few years back.

Any chance of parlaying them into a first round pick?

Dallas has a first rounder next year (2020), but since they traded their first round for this year (2019), they can't trade next year's.

I informally call this the Isaiah Thomas Rule.

I've always liked both of these guys. Matthews in particular has always been a little underrated. Very good from three and the foul line and solid defender, even if getting a little up there in age. Jordan is still a very good player. Hard to see getting a first round draft choice for either or both though. I'd be in favor of them shipping Matthews to a playoff contender for a 2nd round pick and holding on to Jordan until they have an idea who they have a chance for in free agency.

I thought I read they were both going to get bought out.

This was a great deal for the Knicks. We all know Porzingis will continue being hurt constantly at 7'3 with his skinny frame. He also seems to be a diva. We don't need the distraction or the injury risk. I find it funny that none of the pundits are even considering that he ever gets a major injury again just because he's now on Dallas. Knicks get a great young player in DSJ, tons of cap space, and two 1st rounders! If we can somehow get the 1st pick and get Zion with KD or Kyrie following, you will never be able to get a Knicks ticket. I'm sure the NBA is corrupt anyway, find a way to ensure the Knicks get the 1st overall and watch the ratings skyrocket next season. The NBA needs New York. Everyone's getting sick of the Warriors and Lakers.

Very simple analysis:

If the Knicks get 2 max players with the cap $$$, it was a great trade
If they don't, it sucks!!
Fingers crossed
But, with Dolan at the helm, I wouldn't count on it
He always seems to find a way to turn chicken salad into chicken $hit!!
