Keeping Up With Old Friends Thread

Didn’t want to start a new thread so figured I would post this here.

Garbage time Warriors/Lakers game so Jeff Van Gundy brings up Chris Mullin’s 47 point playoff game (I think) and said Chris was the only player he would come out early to watch his shooting drills. Mark Jackson mentions his own time as a player at St. John’s and credits Mullin for his 13 year NBA career. Chris looking good at the game tonight.

I saw it as well. Free publicity. 😁

Was watching the game also. Maybe the second NBA game I watched on TV all year start to finish.

He had a good career but he was one of those guys who always seemed to play a little scared like Mike Moses or Chucky Sproling.

You saw flashes of incredible talent, but I always felt like he was holding back for fear of making a mistake.
Played against Shelton Jones in HS - he was a beast. I can remember playing in the old Suffolk 100 showcase in 1984 at Ward Melville HS. Shelton's Amityville squad was playing on an adjacent court, when who should walk in but one Lou Carnesecca. He came in with Brian Mahoney, watched Shelton play one game, shook a few hands and left. That was a thrill for everyone in that gym!

It's interesting that nearly every kid who was recruited by CMA over the past few years and then transferred out ended up at a mid major school. There are a few exceptions obviously. Just more evidence though he could not recruit at this level.
Also how we all ( including me overrate incoming recruits since the days this site started ). lol

I like the roster Rick has put together so far, and it's only going to get better. But anyone who thinks he knows who's going to take a step up from a mid-major and be a big time contributor at this level, and who isn't, is only fooling themselves. Mid major success is the best indicator of high major success, but still a crap shoot.

Totally agree. A girl can be what you think would be hot at let's say at McKeowans in Huntington but have them hang at the bar at Honu on a friday night it's complete hit or miss

I told you my club med story. Kinda like the Sienfeld "two-face" episode. Except she was very attractive in one location(Martinique), and very unattractive in another(NYC).
