Keeping Up With Old Friends Thread

His absence of a jump shot and dunk addiction 😇
Think there is even more to it than that. Some criticism of RP for moving on from Gardner and I admit I wasn’t happy either but it makes more sense to me now. Even if he isn’t an outside shooting threat got to believe higher programs than Grand Canyon and Bryant would be very interested if there wasn’t something else going on.

Not to disparage anyone and just a guess but just throwing out there maybe an overly involved parent. One would think that wouldn’t even be enough to turn off all higher programs.

It is so weird. On the One3 site, he was still in the Top 100. Plus, would Bryant even have a lucrative NIL program, if that was actually the focus for them?

In a nutshell; in my early 20s, went to club med in martinique with a buddy. At the meet and greet the first night, we realized we had picked a really bad week to go: it was 90% guys. So naturally any decent looking girl looked off the charts hot to us.

We quickly grabbed the 1st 2 good looking babes we saw. I spent the wildest alcohol-driven, sex-fueled week of my entire life with this girl. Sex on the beach, in the ocean, I think even in a coconut tree(hope I'm not offending anyone). For a fleeting moment there, I think I may have actually thought that I was madly in love. The combination of alcohol and sex had really distorted my thought process.

Afterwards she went home to Toronto and I came back to the city. We made plans for her to come visit about a month later for the weekend.

I went to get her at LGA and while watching the passengers disembark and walk towards me, I saw a woman who looked like an extremely unattractive version of the girl. So I glanced at her and then continue to look for the the hot babe that I had spent the wild week with.

Well, much to my shock and shagrin, the unattractive woman yelled out my name, came running towards me, threw her arms around me and started kissing me. I couldn't find a hole big enough to crawl in, and all I keep thinking was "it's gonna be an awfully long weekend".

It was even longer then I anticipated. Afterwards she went home and we never spoke again.

Enough paragraphs for you Kranmars?
The part you never told me before was the coconut tree and no matter how long ago it was I just threw out my silk almond coconut flavored milk in disgust :)

Is Bryant nice? Because Grand Canyon University looks UGLY. Weird that he can't find a better team though.

How can he not attract attention from a College of Charleston or Furman?

If only they asked him how the official visit was. He would have said ‘What’s that?’
As a player, one of the all-time great work ethics.

As someone who strives to stay in shape, also one of the all-time great work ethics -- the interview took place as they were biking to the top of Mount Diablo, and then on a hike.

As a coach . . . I really don't get what happened here. The only thing I can think of is that his wife and daughter wanted no part of New York and his mind was elsewhere because of it.

And his brother was dying if my memory is correct.

Both have merit. It has been reported that his daughter didn’t like it here and she along with his wife moved backed to Cali (I believe his daughter was also a volley ball player to finish High School back in their home state). His older brother Rod, was also losing his battle with cancer.

I think Chris also didn’t think it was going to be as hard as it was to coach, scout and recruit. He was looking to run the program more like a pro setting and it just didn’t work out and I will leave it a that.

He still has my upmost respect for what he has done both on and off the court and for the person he is.
