Keegan Bradley

Keegan just started his round at the Ryder Cup. Not a big golf guy but looks like his first shot was pretty good.

Our boy is getting it done! Dropping putts all over the place. US was getting pounded early, but Bradley's putting has put him and Mickelson three up through 13. Keegan's been the game changer.

Pretty good first day for a Ryder Cup rookie.

And Bradley drops another bomb on 15 to end it.

Absolutely the biggest star in the opening foursomes.

After only one day Keegan has established himself as a national hero. All the money games with Phil have really paid dividends and brought out the best in lefty. His last shot squashing Rory and company was a true classic. Keegan celebrating was a super watch. The kid's got game and heart for days. Great times for SJU!

And they have continued this morning right where they left off. Love watching Keegan. Brings an energy you just don't see on the course.

What a monumental choke job by the US. Our guys are major bombers which pleases crowds but they play on courses which have been dumbed down to allow them to recover from almost anywhere. Europeans play real golf on real traditional tracks which place a premium on ball control and shotmaking so they handle adversity better. I grew up playing the Black course at Bethpage and it pains me to see the players hitting to the greens from one inch "Rough" from places where it used to be hip deep. Yeah they made it much longer. That's no problem for today's bombers but the teeth and beauty of the course are gone. In 02 Tiger was the only one with the length to play the redesigned course so they played right into his hands. Now everyone caught up and it's fun to watch guys hitting six irons 210 yards but the Europeans are still kicking our butts because they're not spoiled like we are. An excruciating watch for sure followed by the Giants and Jets fiascos. Happy Monday. Can't wait to hear Frascesa postulating on it all to top it off.

Blame Davis who set this course up with the low rough.

I heard it on the broadcast. Not sure about the paper or web.

As mentioned broadcast, Golf Digest, Golf Magazine. It's pretty common knowledge the Captain of the host team sets up the course how he wants it.

I don't have a problem with the belly putter, but the author makes a good point about golf's ruling bodies acting too slowly to ban technological advances in shafts and clubheads.

The difference is that metal woods made some golf courses obsolete because everyone was hitting 30yds further than the landing areas.
I can't see belly putters forcing golf architects to do change their greens.

Keegan Bradley ready for 2013 season starting today at Hyundai Tournament of Champions at Kapalua in Hawaii.
Next week he is playing alongside former STJ player Andrew Svoboda at Sony Open in Hawaii. Hopefully he can mentor Andrew like Phil does him. Exciting time for the Red Storm golf program. Still can't figure out how this program, from the cold northeast, can put two players on the PGA Tour in four years. Impressive.
