Kadary

We interrupt this Moose lovefest (gack) to note that it is totally unsurprising that a big, slo-mo guard and a small, hyperspeed guard who are both used to being the PG and controlling the ball were ALWAYS going to be an odd couple. Very difficult to make that work unless somebody becomes a SF or a SG.

In fairness they made some progress before Smith got hurt, but I remain of the opinion I have had from the start which is that given the roster on this team I would give the ball to Kadary and bring Smith off the bench to change the pace leading the second unit and to provide instant offense.

It's no shade to Smith, with a different roster I would love to have him as the starting PG. But this just isn't that team.

Make Smith the 6th man and have Kadary play forward (if matchup allows) when they are in the game together.

Not too worried about Smith and Richmond together. Richmond feasts on the types of teams we've been playing lately. He's going to have a tougher time with elite guards of better teams.

Smith's on-ball defense is needed. He creates a ton of chaos on that end. He needs to attack a lot more in secondary transition. If he's 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 with 2 guys backpedaling, I want him taking it to the basket aggressively and I'm sure coach does as well. If it's not there, pull it back and let Richmond do his thing.

Smith is the only guy that can shoot from three off the bounce as well. He's a legit shooter and he doesn't need to dominate the ball.

And Kadary has the size to act like a forward

Yup, plenty of minutes for both. The “who starts” question is secondary to total minutes as well as time and situation chess moves. Of equal importance is recent maturation of our third guard at both ends of court. Sim, only a sophomore, seems to be calmer and headier. He’ll have his lapses of course, but is really getting in nice groove. Not many teams have three interchangeable guards teams have to worry about.

Like all players, he played like he did then and is playing like he is now. No crow to be eaten, just a player playing much better than he was.
Not sure it's simple as that. I think our fanbases tendency to dump on it's own while NEVER showing ANY patience and giving our players a full half, game, week, month, season to get it right is humiliating.

Kadary was sh*t on here before the run. Plenty of crow to be eaten. Most of it by the usual culprits.

I agree about the defense. For any issues that may occur on the offensive side, Smith’s defense will only make this team even scarier.

Since defense is the team’s identity, Smith will only enhance its strength. It is akin to the Giants drafting Carl Banks and Gary Reasons, when they were already stacked at that position with LT, Carson, et al.

Or Smith can play tight man corner while Kadary is a little more free to play free safety and use his hands and length to disrupt opponents.

Ok. Done with the football analogies.

Rick is funny at times

“Pitino gushed about Richmond’s play after this latest win, raving about the senior’s progress of late and joking about his made 3-pointer.

“Now all of a sudden he thinks he’s Steph Curry Jr. He made it. We’re going to keep working at it,” Pitino said. “He’s just a remarkable player. There’s so many things he does that you all don’t see.

“Here’s what I love about him: He knows when he makes a mistake, and he immediately puts his thumb up when I get on him. He knows it already. Always owns up to every mistake. That’s a great quality.”

“I told Kadary [Richmond] when he came out he’s like a fine wine — he keeps getting better with age, and he’s 35.”

Well I am, we just disagree. Effort has nothing to do with patience.

I really don't see a problem with Kadary snd Deivon existing in the same backcourt. In fact I think they can compliment each other while being different types of athletes.

In transition, Smith and Luis become potent weapons, and the way Zuby runs the floor can be a finisher or mop up guy. Kadary least effective starter on the break.

In the half court, Kadary is one of the best guards in the league. His offensive ability, passing and decision making 16 feet and in are unmatched. With Scott's range and Luis and Zuby able to take it to the rack, Smith is the least effective starter.

Smith plsys a high speed, high wire game. When we can run, he becomes more valuable. When the going gets rough however, teams that can be effe tive in halfcourt often prevail. That's Kadary.

Both are great rebounders, both pass well, both can swipe, ands both block shots. Nod to Kadary who can hold his own again big men.

Controversy? Not by a long shot. Kadary, who can shoulder more of an offensive load when needed, is happy to fill a boxscore without scoring 18-20 points.

Lobster and filet mignon really don't belong together, do they? One lives on land the other a bottom.feeder. but as different as they are, damn they are good together.
