Julian Champagnie

As a long time alumnus and season ticket holder it's great when a freshman comes in basically under the radar especially a NYC recruit and contributes. I enjoy watching him a lot. He has overcome some of the freshman speed bumps to be a very solid BE player already. The best is yet to come.

That's just his personality (article on he and Justin pointed out that he is quiet laid back one). He shows plenty of fire the way he fights for rebounds and defends, just isn't a rah rah type of guy. Demeanor reminds me of one of my all time favorites Knicks, Walt Frazier.

Just his nature I guess, but seems very competitive to me. Also when he arrived here he was 17, going up against a lot of older, experienced, more physically mature players.

Really like this kid. Great pickup. Rarely ever hurts us on the floor because he’s so solid, even as a freshman.

I expect Julian to significantly improve his 2nd season. A year more maturity means a lot for a kid that played at 17. Hopefully he fills out and adds muscle during the off season.

I'm a little worried that he may be too good and the NBA will steal him after the Sophomore year. That happened a lot to Mike at Arkansas. Coach a kid up and then he leaves for the G league. Gutting the college team left behind. I've still never gotten over Bobby Portis. That team could have gone deep into the tournament if he had played his Junior year. Oh well. It wasn't meant to be.

It would be wonderful if Julian develops into a solid 4 year player.

I hope you're right. The Johnnies need good players like Julian.

He's still so young. It's going to be fun watching him mature and see his game improve.

And it reflects well on Coach Anderson’s recruiting intentions - to get talented players who are also talented people! A win- win!
What’s not to like about young Mr. J Champagnie?
What’s not to like about Mike Anderson?

Very poised for a freshmen...and starting to assert himself...following one of his buckets this last game he played to the camera a bit...which is evidence that he is starting to get comfortable enough to assert himself.

He is absolutely going to be a good one. He is very good from 15 feet in right now and will improve beyond.

Uhoh. Dont let the Duke of earlington see this thread lol. Just kidding duke. Enjoy them both. It is ok!!

Shamorie Ponds was not that long ago

Kid having a strong freshman year. Very solid. He’s only gonna get better. His shot is really good as well. Very straight, just needs to work on consistency with the height on his shot/trajectory but it’s not far off.

If figgy leaves, i love the idea of julian at the 3 and the duke at the 4 next year. But we will probably have to wait 2 years to see that starting lineup as figgy will be here one more year.
