Jordan Status?

Lavin just confirmed he won't be playing vs. Nova.

Any other info or was that all that was said? I was hoping this might have only been a one-game thing and he would be back for Nova.

He dodged all the questions, says he doesn't know fully what's going on and when he'll be back.

Do you think that Lavin should disclose to us everything that he knows that is going on with this kid? I don't think we are that important.

No, I never implied that. Just answering the question on what happened during the press conference.

It's hard to place blame on people without knowing the full situation. All I know is this happens all the time with SJU.

This kid appears to have major problems. It appears that he suffered trauma from the poverty and violence he was brought up in. He was told by hangers on that the best treatment would be to make it to the NBA as opposed to reaching out to mental health experts to try and get some relief. I feel badly for hIm.

Sheed could really benefit from time w John Lucas. Just ask @DangeloHarrison

Without Jordan we really arent going anywhere and may be lucky to make the tournament. The best we can hope for is to play like Providence did last year with essentially 5 or 6 men. They got lucky won the BE and got into the NCAA. That would be a dream to follow but unlikely.
Jordan is probably the best all around player on the team and losing him is devastating. The sad thing is the seniors who have tried so hard and worked so hard to get to the NCAA may find the door shut on them again and for them there is no tomorrow.. We cant win with what is essentially a 5 man rotation. There is nothing else to do but to go to the games and drink some beer. I hate to say it but in my opinion the dreams of a Big Dance appearance are dead

There is just more and more to like about Harrison. He knows he isn't capable of helping Jordan, but that Jordan could benefit from professional help. Let's hope that for Jordan's sake he gets whatever helps he needs, and if it brings him back here so be it. If not, wish him well.

I think this is a little extreme. He's 19 and he's been built up as a God by his following. He needed a slice of humble pie, and it's not always the easiest thing to take in stride.

Playing Monday Morning QB here, but if even D'Lo is now saying RJ should seek outside help (Lucas), why was this not dealt with by the staff during the spring/summer? That was the time to help RJ, not in the first week of Jan...

I don't think it's extreme. Emotionally stable people don't react this way.

No, we are not important and he doesn't have to tell us a thing. What he should have been doing is bringing in players. Putting guys in position that playing 40 is a must is neglect on his part.

To be fair D'Lo just retweeted a tweet from me. Let's not assume he suggested it. At best he agrees with it,

First of all, the staff was busy in the Spring finalizing a stellar recruiting class. Secondly, Rysheed had problems long before spring and summer. Other manifestations were the constant head snapping he exhibits, the inattention during time outs, being constantly late for practice, using his mother's condition for trips back to Philly, etc. This is a team that could have benefited from "group" therapy.

@rumbleSBN: #sjubb RT @JasonKingBR: Rysheed Jordan's leave of absence from St. John's is, in part, b/c he's grieving loss of grandmother who died Fri.

Beast, if the season is already over, and no chance at getting to the big dance. Then he decides to comeback, you'd accept him back on the team?
I couldn't after costing us that chance this year, costing the seniors their last opportunity at their dream. Would the seniors accept him back on the team?

Why did this have to happen now after such a promising start to the season?

In part??? What Friday? The Friday of the stomach virus or yesterday, the day he was told to take a hike? For the doubters, would it be possible to see a death certificate? If his grandmother died what bad timing by Lavin to impart a lesson on the kid. He milked his own father's death by taking a week off and mourning him for the remainder of the season. He has been milking his prostate cancer for three years and needed a year off to recover but devoted his energy to recruiting which never paid off. Not sure how much stock to put into any stories about the players or our coach any longer.

Yes. We have drama, suspense, mysterious absences, lies, exaggerations and yet the ticket prices have always gone up. After this season I am going to start a rebate campaign.

Interesting comments;

@GregLogan1: #SJUBB coach Steve Lavin: "I don't have enough information," to know future for absent Rysheed Jordan after loss:http://t.co/h3Q0et2yA8.

"D'Angelo Harrison said St. John's players were informed of Jordan's loss by text message Friday night in the team hotel. "We rallied as a group in the hotel," Harrison said. "It hurts, but our job is to go out and play. We don't control stuff that goes on outside."

Doesn't sound like a close relationship. Informed by text???

St. John's had enough information to put Rysheed Jordan on leave, but not enough to give out any information on it. Riiiiight. #sjubb

Remember a few years ago, their was a flour shortage. Bagel prices went up to near a dollar from 50 cents. Flour shortage over but bagel prices still near a dollar. Prices will not come down.
