Jared Terrell, SG (RHODE ISLAND VERBAL)

@terrence_payne: Expressions Elite coach Ty Boswell says no official visits lineup yet for either Abdul-Malik Abu and Jared Terrell.

@Corey_Rivals513: Five-star Justise Winslow confirms that he has trimmed his list to Duke, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Arizona, UCLA and Stanford.

Who's UCLA going to put more time/effort into recruiting- Winslow or Terrell.

"It's fluid"

So the schools on both lists are:

Florida
Miami
UConn
Prov
UCLA
St Johns

Good to see we made the cut, although, as noted above, I'd be surprised if Terrell committed to St. John's.

Why?

Florida got a commitment from Brandone Francis who is ranked higher than Abu.

UConn got a commitment from Daniel Hamilton and is getting Rodney Purvis in '14.

If you think Lavin can't close against those other schools (if he really wants Abu), then that's crazy.

On behalf of redken, I believe he thinks we won't land Terrell because of our crowded backcourt. I know that was his argument earlier.

Like Moose stated, those players (Harrison, Greene, and Branch) will be seniors, and Jordan (if he's still around) will be a sophomore. So, it's not like he'll sit for long, even if he were to sit.

Not to mention, if he's good enough, then he'll get some burn. If he's really good enough, then he'll unseat someone.

Like yourself, Alum.... I feel confident Lavin can close against those other schools.

Get 'em on campus for an official. Let's do this!

Terrell said he doesn't mind coming off the bench (see old Zags interview).

I would think that as a freshman, you wouldn't have a problem playing behind Seniors rather than fellow freshmen who were recruited over you.

St John's needs to make itself the "it" in the Big East, similar to what Memphis was in Conference USA for so many years.

“@AdamZagoria: Providence, St. John's and N.C. State back watching Abu and Terrell in AC”

Not liking our chances of landing Abu if he and Terrell are a package deal. With the good possibility of having all four our guards -- Harrison, Jordan, Branch & Greene -- returning next year, Terrell might not see the opportunity for PT.

Terrell looks like he very likely could be a three at the college level. We really only have Pointer as a typical three-man for 2014. The following year the floodgates open up in terms of PT.

3rd guard yes.

A 3 at the college level? No way.

He's 6'4 225 already. He's can swing the ball and shoot it...very physical and good on the boards. Why not?

He's built like your typical "every down back" in the NFL. He just punishes defenders when he goes to the basket. I think he'll be able to get away with playing a bit of 3, if a team decides to run a 3-guard lineup or goes small.

Agreed.

Balamou has played SF. Same height.

That's a 3 guard lineup, not a 3, no? Couple minutes a game or to exploit a mismatch.

Yeah semantics.
A Lavin 3, 4 or 5 could be any height.

I guess that is just semantics. The usual harm in playing a 6'4 or smaller player at the three is having the payer abused in the post and losing some effectiveness on the glass. The kid is built like a truck, so posting him up is not going to be an easy situation. He can also board well.

The college three is much different than the NBA three, as I am sure you are well aware. A lot of NBA threes played the four or some 5 in college (Harkless comes to mind).

I'm guessing this is primarily related to the recruitment of Abu and Terrell....

I'm giving the recruiting MVPs here at Live in AC to Andre LaFleur, Tony Chiles & Orlando Early for sticking it out until the bitter end

pretty sure Terrell has nba aspirations so doubt he wants to play the 3 in college. if part of your recruiting pitch is sending players to the league not a good idea to play them out of position. Terrell is a guard why play him at the 3. Maybe some 3 guard lineups.

I may be wrong but I dont think Terrell is that tall. Believe he is closer to 6'2

Met Jared last month in Boston at the Hoopville 2013 Tournament when I took the picture of my younger son with Abdul and he is not bigger than 6 2 but boy is he built. Kid looks like a line backer for Alabama.

Moe was our starting center and he was picked mid-first round after one year. Randy Foye played PF for Nova andwas drafted #7 overall as a PG. I believe you guys are making way too much out of positions.

What's the difference between playing the two and three in our system offensively? Anyone? All that changes is who you matchup with defensively. In our zone the two and three are IDENTICAL. In man-to-man, showing the versatitility to cover bigger players can really help potential draft pick's stock. I see no reason why this kid can't play some three for us for a season until Branch, Greeen, Harrison, and Dom graduate.

Terrell's body is nearly identical to Paul Harris (6'4 220) and Harris played SF for a very good Syracuse squad. Obviously, Terrell is much more skilled offensively.

Rhode Island won eight games last year. They have some work to do.

Some guy who covers URI on twitter says that his sources are telling him that Terrell and Abu will no longer be considered a package deal

Don't know if he's credible though
