James Jones - Next Coach (oh boy)?

If this happens I might be done rooting for this program. At some point enough is enough.

The weakest hire possible. Very exciting. I’ll support him. Seems like a decent guy and coach. I don’t know what his upside is really.

Would be an absolutely terrible hire. Compared to life in a power conference, coaching at Yale might as well be coaching overseas.

This hire will turn up the heat on Bobby and Joe even more.

This is the type of hire you make to be spiteful a few days before resigning from your AD position.

Cancel the whole season.

Iona season tickets?

As will mine. And not one dime more to my alma mater.

I don't know the first thing about James Jones and I'm pretty sure neither do most of you. Explain to me what is wrong with him. I understand it is an arbitrary cut off, but over the last 5 years according to Kenpom he has had better teams than Iona and Loyola Chicago, and better than St. John's in a few of those years including this one. The knee-jerk negativity on this board is nuts.

I have not been in favor of hiring Cluess, but how do you drop to Jones? I am finally there......just hire Cluess.

I mean If this doesn’t get you excited, what will?

“Even more impressive has been Jones’ consistency: since his second season on the job in 2000-01, Yale has finished at least fourth in the Ivy League every year.”

Oh I don't know

Maybe four 20 win seasons in 20 years of coaching ?

Can’t believe I’m going to say this but 5 out of my 7 season tix will be cancelled. Weatherman controls my last 2. I’ll stubhub 114 for the msg games to sit with my 114 friends

Keep in mind, JP was also the guy with the Earlington transfers to Rutgers football tweet.

I am very good friends with his brother Joe and have heard great things about James, however based on everything I heard on the radio today and everything I have seen over the last 20 years this is par for the course. It is underwhelming but “safe” for SJ Trustees. If this is the case I would like to see our program move to a smaller conference like the MAAC and see SJ competitive there and maybe every 5-6 years we can make the tournament as a 13 seed. Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse.
