Jamal Branch to STJ

If he wants to play next spring he has to pull the trigger soon. Any ideas when the spring semester starts for both schools?

Next week. Besides he can still miss a couple days it's not the end of the world. That being said it should be resolved by next week

St. John's semester starts the 18th and last day to add classes is January 24th.

Is the last day to add classes the same as last day to enroll though?
I remember this discussion last year with DeAndre Daniels and rumors of him enrolling at Kansas well into February.

From NCAA Guidlines(home sick, got time on my hands lol):

One academic year in residence = How long
you must spend at your new school before
you can play. Sometimes people call the year
in residence "sitting out."
For your academic year in residence to count
toward your eligibility to play, you must sit
out only at the school where you intend to
play and you must be a full-time student. You
cannot meet this requirement by attending
the school part time or by not being enrolled
in school at all.
For a semester or quarter to count toward
your one academic year in residence, you
must be enrolled full time (which is generally
at least 12-credit hours) and you must be
enrolled before the 12th day of class.

thanks for the research monte. Looks like hes got time but the sooner he pops for the johnnies the better!

Is it possible to do 12 credits in the summer at STJ and becomed eligible to play when season opens in 12/13?

Glad we got what seems like a talented PG, but it has to be asked:

whose to say this kid isnt another Nuri??? After all, the kid did bail on his team only a few games into his college career like Nuri did.  I reallyyyyy hope the staff did its research with this one.

Said it on the other board too.
He signed up for Turgeon who left. He gave new coach a chance and didnt like it.
I wouldn't be alarmed.

Very excited about this. He fills a very important piece of the puzzle in our future backcourt. But also just practicing with the team short term will be huge.

Welcome aboard!

Jerome Branch: "They have a serious need for him. D'Angelo [Harrison] being around helped. It's a good fit for him."

Understand your concerns, but unless this kid is a head case(and there's nothing to indicate that he is), you've got to be thrilled with grabbing a legit top 100 PG for next season. Here's a some comments from Aggie blog:

This is fantastic news. Top 50 point guard, will make this team so good next year. Also, I think it will show others that everything is fine in st john's land.

Great get!!! I think we will now see both gathers and Sampson re commit!!
Branch
Deangelo

Maybe he just couldn't take the coach's kid screaming at all the games :)

Fantastic news!! Add another top 50 player with 3.5 years eligibility to Lavin's stable. This time a 6'3" "pure PG". Big way to get the 2012 class started. Even better is he starts practicing in a week or two. Kid is a Jarrett Jack clone.

When eligible next year, can he play another 2 fulls seasons after that, or another 3? So do we have him for BE play next year and 3 more years or 2 more?

3 1/2.
He'll be a freshman (eligibility wise) come December.
