“@Isaiah_W15: Game Tomorrow In Rumble In The Bronx At 9pm In Baruch Come Show Love

The "Isaiah Whitehead" recruiting thread disappeared.... So, I figured I'd mention what he did this past weekend (at Rumble in the Bronx) on this particular thread. I'm sure mods will move it when the thread re-appears.

Isaiah Whitehead, New Jersey Playaz, 2014 6-foot-4 guard - The hype over Whitehead has been around since his middle school days, but the one thing holding him back was his jumper. Now a junior, that has changed, and Whitehead is playing his game just how he likes it. As he runs the point, creates his own shots and continues to extend his range, he will need to improve on two facets of his game going into his senior year. The Lincoln (NY) guard must make better decisions when passing the ball on the fast break, and he needs to not settle on shots. As his squad was missing players this weekend, Whitehead exploded for a 32 and 36 point outburst. His shot was on, but during the semifinal game he ran out of gas and only scored 17 points on a lot of shots. The next step will be becoming a full time combo guard where he can create more opportunities for his teammates when his shot is off, or he is being double teamed. With that being said, his newfound jumper and range has put his game on a new level and given him the boost of confidence that is needed. Louisville, UCLA, St. John's, Minnesota and Syracuse appear to be the five schools recruiting him consistently, but he is yet to make any drastic decisions regarding his recruitment.

Tonight's game;

“@ebosshoops: Isaiah Whitehead is playing like a man possessed. Easily backing up 5-star status. Punishing scorer. #NBPA”

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Many of the nation's top players were back on the floor Thursday night for the second session of the 2013 NBPA Top 100 Camp. Five-star guard Isaiah Whitehead picked up where he left off in the day's first session, while future Florida Gator Chris Chiozza showed how his skill and quickness offset his lack of size.

Whitehead plays with purpose

If anybody in the John Paul Jones Arena looked like they had a little extra bounce in their step on Thursday it was five-star combo guard Isaiah Whitehead. Despite a No. 19 national ranking and plenty of exposure at Brooklyn (N.Y.) Lincoln, the 6-foot-4 rising senior doesn't get a lot of pub.

Isaiah Whitehead seemed to have an extra bounce in his step Thursday night.
Thanks to his play in Charlottesville, Whitehead has put himself into the national spotlight.

After a strong performance in the day's early session, Whitehead was locked and loaded during the evening session. A power scorer who can put the ball on the floor, his jumper was clicking and he did a great job of mixing strong drives with good passes and aggressive defense.

Whitehead has listed programs such as Kentucky, Arizona, Syracuse, Louisville, Kansas, St. John's, Rutgers, Auburn, among others.

Per Rivals....

Based on what he's shown all spring long, Isaiah Whitehead's status as a five-star prospect is safe at this point. His strong play continued on Thursday morning as he played grown man basketball. He doesn't have the same level of strength that a Dion Waiters or Lance Stephenson does, but he plays a similar game based on physicality, streaky shooting and being a guard who can dominate the ball. Actually, Whitehead handles it well enough that it is easy to project him playing some point guard down the road, which is something he says is important to him.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Don't tell Isaiah Whitehead that rankings don't matter.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Lincoln (N.Y.) has seen his status drop from a five-star prospect into the 30s. At the 247 Sports Composite, he's No. 33 in the class of 2014.

“I want to move up in the rankings,” Whitehead said. “I think I belong in the top 25 at least.”

Whitehead has been proving himself as one of the top scoring guards in the country, finding ways to get points in a variety of ways. He makes difficult and contested shots better than anyone in the class, and has deep range on his outside jumper. Whitehead is aggressive with the ball, and isn't afraid to drive into traffic. He also defends and has underrated vision.

Through the first three games of NBPA Top 100 camp, Whitehead has been consistent, scoring in double-figures in each contest. In fact, he's leading the camp in scoring heading into Friday night.

“All the guys out here that's ranked higher than me, I'm just going at them and showing everybody that I'm better than them,” Whitehead said.

In terms of recruiting, three are coming at him the hardest: Louisville, Syracuse and Minnesota.

“They're just great programs,” Whitehead said. “They have great coaches.”

St. John's and UCLA are also making an effort, but he wants to visit the aforementioned three after the July live period.

“Just a family atmosphere,” Whitehead said when asked what he's looking for in a school. “A great coach, my style of play, education, everything.”

From Kline today;

2014 guard Isaiah Whitehead of Lincoln (NY) - Whitehead's motor has made him one of the better performers at the camp, to go along with his already impeccable ability to finish at the rim. Another top performer this spring, the New York native's confidence in his jumper and range has been the biggest change in his game. His passing and court vision this camp has looked great, as well. The clearcut improvement that he has worked toward is paying off. His recruitment remains the same with Louisville, St. John's, UCLA, Syracuse, Kentucky, Minnesota and others.

It's gonna be a battle, but we have an excellent chance of landing Whitehead. A good season could enhance our chances with not only Whitehead, but other blue-chip players, as well.

Four-star guard Isaiah Whitehead finished off an impressive spring at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, and could be putting himself in line for a bump to five-star status.

Isaiah Whitehead had an incredible spring playing with the Juice All-Stars and for a short time the New Jersey Playaz, and he capped things off with a stellar showing at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. It should be no surprise that the Brooklyn (NY) Lincoln standout continues to get significant recruiting attention.
A powerfully built 6-foot-4, Whitehead can use his strength and athleticism to get to the rim, or his much improved jump shot to hit from deep or in the mid-range. He has been scoring every way imaginable this spring, and he says it has to do with his hard work.

“I feel I have been playing great lately,” said Whitehead. “I have been in the gym a lot so it is hard work paying off really.”

Recruiting wise schools continue to stay in the mix recruiting him hard.

“I am still looking over schools like St. John’s, Syracuse, Louisville, UCLA, Minnesota, and schools like that,” said Whitehead.

Syracuse has always been firmly in the mix for Whitehead and they continue to show him a lot of attention.

“Syracuse has always been there recruiting me,” said Whitehead of the Orange. “I have a good relationship with the coaches and players. It is like I am already a part of the team.”

Another school that has been there for a while is Louisville. Rick Pitino has historically recruited New York City very well, and current Cardinal Russ Smith has told Whitehead what the place is like.

“Russ tells me you have to play defense, and if you play defense the sky is the limit,” said Whitehead. “They are national champs and they have a great coach.”

Also two schools with new coaching staffs are making a push. Both UCLA and Minnesota continue to work hard to get official visits.

“We have a great relationship,” said Whitehead of Minnesota. “We talk daily or weekly, and they have a great program.”

About UCLA, he said, “I’ve been talking to them every week about what new things they are going to bring to UCLA and things like that.”

Whitehead says that visits are likely to be set up following the July live period, and that he plans to make those before coming to a final decision on where to attend school."

Per Rivals....

Isaiah Whitehead, SG, Brooklyn (N.Y.) Lincoln: After a torrid start to camp, the five-star combo guard did cool off some. However, when the 6-foot-4 New Yorker has it rolling with his jumper like he did for a big portion of camp he becomes nearly unstoppable. Whitehead is clever off the dribble and a good passer and showed that he can be a solid defender as well.

Best Scoring Guard: Isaiah Whitehead, Devin Booker

As a freshman, Isaiah Whitehead was one of the most talked about names in the class of 2014. Over the years, new names and faces began to surpass Whitehead in the rankings and he entered the spring as a top 40-50 type player. After a stellar spring on the AAU and camp circuit, Whitehead is expected to see his ranking rise back up quickly. Always a guard with great strength, Whitehead has been showing off his textbook three point shot and ball handling ability over the past three months. When he gets his feet set behind the three point line you can go ahead and add three to his scoring total as these shots routinely hit nothing but net. Whitehead also handled the ball a decent amount and never got out of control during the camp which is something he was known for in his younger days. After playing well on both the UA and Nike AAU circuits, Whitehead brought his best game to the NBPA camp and left as one of the top shooting guards in the country.

Whitehead said that the Cardinals and home-state schools Syracuse and St. John’s are his biggest pursuers and that he plans to visit all three, maybe in August. He also has interest in Kentucky, although the Wildcats have not made an offer.

They will offer and they will be hard to beat.

What makes you so sure they will offer with their team first of all in a top to bottom schollie confusion and also the fact they already have '14 targets.
