Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

@NYPost_Brazille: Lincoln's Isaiah Whitehead has a final 9 of Kentucky, Sju, Rutgers, Syracuse, Kansas, Florida, ucla, Arizona and Marland, per a source.

He was just in love with Cuse

Would really love to know their 'ship situation

@SECBballRecruit: RT @GTuckerF150: 2014 SG Isaiah Whitehead will be in attendance for the Kentucky-Maryland game tonight. Both schools are on his list of 10

Unless he skyrockets up the rankings over the next year, I doubt UK has strong interest in him.

Maryland on the other hand needs all the help they can get.

From ESPN Insider

At least six schools are still in the race for Isaiah Whitehead (Brooklyn, NY/Lincoln), ESPN's No. 41 recruit in 2014.

"Louisville has come out, Syracuse has come out, Arizona said they would be out here soon," Lincoln assistant coach James Barrett tells Scout.com today. "Those are some of the major schools that are really interested. Then you have Maryland, St. John's, and UCLA as well."

Regarded as a two-guard, the 6-foot-4 Whitehead is said to be working on his point guard skills this season, according to Barrett.

Here's more from ESPN Recruiting on the coveted guard.

Rivals has him @ 13.

Whitehead Weaving Through Recruiting Process

Struggling in his past two games, Isaiah Whitehead is ready to break out of a mini slump after weekend losses to St. Frances (MD) and Imhotep Charter (PA). As he is still one of the top guards in the nation - ranked No. 13 in his class - Whitehead is ready to bring his usual intensity back to the court.

On a different note, his recruitment is winding down. As he hopes to cut his list to five schools by next month, Whitehead says that Syracuse, UCLA and Louisville are standing out at this point, while Rutgers and St. John's haven't been in constant contact as before.

While Syracuse has caught the eye of the five-star prospect from Lincoln (NY), his mind isn't made up yet.

"If I was a lock for Syracuse, I would have committed by now," he told Rivals.com following his game at the VILLA Classic. "My mind hasn't been made up yet."

Regarding Louisville, UCLA and Syracuse standing out - the Orange have shown him plenty of attention, he could play alongside close friend Chris McCullough and he would only be around four hours away from home. When Louisville came by to watch him workout, they showed him film and Whitehead was intrigued by how he could fit into the offense. UCLA has gotten him on campus before, but could the Pac-12 be out of range because of how far away it is? That's certainly possible.

As for now, Whitehead may be cutting his list to five soon, but he doesn't intent to commit until his senior year.

This makes 2 recruits (Carrington) who basically are inferring that other schools are recruiting them harder than we are. Do we just not really want these guys or are we just being out worked by these other schools as hard as that might be for some of you to accept?

My problem is that they are local and there is no reason for us not to be on them. Chris McCullough made the same reference which is disturbing (even though he's technically playing out of state).

It's all well and good to be a national recruiter but there's no excuse not to make facetime with quality local kids.

Forgot to mention McCullough. Seems to be a disturbing trend. Nice to know I have at least one compatriot to fight off the ST. JOHN'S CAN DO NO WRONG crowd.

The 1st local kid Steve brought in starts for the Orlando Magic
The 2nd local kid is the premier shot-blocker in the country

You don't spend a lot a time on kids who tell you they're not interested.

Ok. Thank-you for the inside info. That is a legitimate response.

Can we slap the infamous 'ship has sailed' and close the door on this one yet? Kid seems to have a love affair with Boeheim and Calipari and it looks like we have stopped the pursuit thankfully. Kid wants to go, so let him go.

Agree to an extent 98 but doesn't hurt to stay in touch and on his good side as sometimes circumstances change and someday he may want to come. Bama signed the #2 overall football recruit who had verbally committed to Auburn and even had an Auburn tatoo inked on his arm.

Now, all he has to do is add the word "Sucks" to that tattoo. Lol.

It would be nice to sign a couple of recruits early for 2014.

Isaiah said on his twitter feed today he was thrilled to get a personal offer from coach Patino of Louisville. All caps.

Pitt Jam

PITTSBURGH – It was a game that didn't start until just before 10 p.m., and it wasn't even part of pool play at the Hoop Group Pitt Jam Fest. Plus, the teams only had about three minutes to warm up.

As a result, it wasn't too surprising that Isaiah Whitehead started off Friday night's game against the Arkansas Hawks pretty slow.

“I struggled early,” Whitehead said. “I had to pick up the pace, get used to the rims. We just got here.”

He managed to turn it around after the opening stretch, leading the Juice All-Stars to an impressive win over the Hawks. Whitehead's ability to make difficult shots and draw contact in the lane enabled Juice to dig out of the early hole and hold off the Hawks in the final minutes.

Whitehead, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Lincoln (N.Y.), is among the top 10 players at his position. He's also one of the best pure scorers in the class, but is continuing to improve his all-around skills.

“I just want to get better,” Whitehead said. “I want to get ready for college, since it's my senior year. I'm working on my jump shot, my handle, everything.”

Syracuse, Louisville and St. John's were all in attendance for Friday night's performance, and those are three of the schools in the mix for Whitehead. Kentucky and UCLA are also in pursuit.

Louisville and Syracuse are the two coming after him the hardest.

“They're both run and run, they play defense, and they have great coaches,” Whitehead said.

He's ranked No. 32 in the 247 Sports Composite rankings for the class of 2014.
