Is there anything official?

After bringing together Mullin and St. John's with one impassioned post, my next task is uniting Republicans and Democrats.

Then peace in the middle east so we can bring our teenage kids/troops home to heal their wounds and watch college basketball in person!

The reason Lavin hire was a good one was it brought some much needed attention to the program. This seems to be dwarfing that. Outside of the impossible(Cal, Donovan or Pitino) this is really the best we could have hoped for.

In a good way, but do any of the guys who actually watched him play like I did find him coaching here weird? I can't describe it, and it is in a good way, but it is still weird.

NYC Mayor chimes in;

@BilldeBlasio: Congrats to Chris Mullin on returning to @StJohnsBBall as head coach. Welcome home to New York City.

Fantastic news! I had initial misgivings about CM's lack of coaching/recruiting experience, but I am excited to have him return to steer the ship. It sounds like he'll build a terrific team of assistants. I couldn't be more excited about the future of the program.

Great day to celebrate being a St. John's fan!

Welcome Back, Kotter

That's the song they should play when they introduce him at the first game

*Whoops, didn't see the other posts saying the same thing. Lot going on on the board these days.

@BrandonTierney: SJU needs to do this right...w/Mullin will come an infusion of legit Wall Street money. The boys will back the program like never before...

BT must have a few cups of Java :)

@BrandonTierney: The vision should be to level Carnesecca Arena, and build a shiny, modern on-campus arena...this represents massive reset button for school.

Don't get the logic here. You play the majority of your home games in the mecca of college basketball. Why waste precious resources on building a new arena in Queens to see St. John's vs. Niagara?

Air Mullin

His plane just went over my house.

I waved my Redmen hat and I could swear he gave me a "We Are #1" sign.

At least I think it was his index finger - that plane was heading really fast towards JFK.

Godspeed, Coach Mullin.

As a lifelong Democrat & Liberal, I'm willing as long as the other side acknowledges that the word compromise, is not a dirty word, nor is it a sign of weakness or cowardice. Just like I'm willing to get behind Mullin as head coach, even though since the hiring of Lavin, I have been against former players with no coaching experience being our head coach. The coaches we hired that did have experience, were unable to even come close to what Louie did as head coach. So I am behind Chris Mullin, and wish him all the luck in the world.

Great video. I just showed to my 13 year old and asked what would he think about having this man as his coach. He said "I would look up to him and respect him". Serious high 5 for that. The power of Youtube cannot be under-estimated.
