What makes you think that? He is a Lavin favorite. He will start in our 5 guard lineup.Phil will be the main 1-2 backup.any scenario in which PGIV is getting major minutes is a bad oneMason alluded to possibility in early March, but there has been nothing since.
He graduated and is eligible immediately, correct? Even still, that would be a nice addition but all he would do is eat into Phil Greene's minutes, no?
Another 6'2 volume shooter? Don't get me wrong, we need scorers, but it doesn't exactly help us replace Sampson, Sanchez, Obekpa, Gift.
Eligibility immediately. Have same concerns about front court needs, but I guess Mason would have value in our new "Havoc Offense".
Our offense has always been in state of havoc! LOL! This season we had two 6'9 guys auditioning for an imaginary NBA job shooting from 17 feet and the rest making it up as they went along. However, in a three guard offense which is likely, Mason, Jordan and Harrison would be a deadly combination. Lavin will tout Christian Jones as 6'8 and 230 pounds of the best forward he has ever coached and the ball will go inside to Obekpa very often as Lavin is on his knees begging him to stay one more year.
Mason, Jordan and Harrison would be a great combination. But where does that leave PGIV and [strike]Costco Family Dollar [/strike]Pointer? I can't see Lavin not giving PGIV major minutes in his senior year.
This guy JayOn1 is really starting to annoy me. He's resorted to talking crap about all of our players on twitter, and tagging them in the tweets too. So they get to see this guy saying things like "good riddance" and "you aren't as good as you think you are" if I were a player on a team and saw a fan saying those things to me, I'd want to leave.
And now he's saying rysheed is a "problem child". Saying that he comes up with all sorts of excuses to miss practices and games, that's really out of line in my opinion, the stuff sheed went through this year warranted missing games.
Someone needs to shut this guy down.

Nothing you can do, the guy is practicing freedom of speech.......though I do find it classless and cowardly.

Chatter fwiw;
@LAVINWOOD: Multiple people telling me that Obekpa is transferring. Can't confirm anything right now, just a Twitter rumor as of now. #sjubb
The guy isn't a random fan, he's a former team manager. He knows the kids well, that's how he knows before anyone else who is leaving.
And if you don't think that Obekpa was a problem, and that Jordan comes with baggage....you just haven't been paying attention. Practically all season long we heard rumors that those two were malcontents. Where there is smoke there's usually fire. And in Obekpa's case, SOMEThInG went on on the bench in that game. We all saw it. Some of the posters here were even close enough to hear it. Who knows what exactly happened, but something happened.
After reading that SI article about what was going on at UCLA while Howland was the coach, I'd prefer not to go down that path.
What really turned me off to that guy was reading about how none of his players really had a relationship with him. That he preferred there be a separation. IMO, I want somebody who truly cares about his players and they will run through a brick wall for them. When I watch teams like Michigan State, Duke, and Louisville, you can tell those coaches and players are close. That they look out for one another. I would never want a coach who was all business. If that's the case, go coach in the NBA.
A friend of mine, who lives in LA and is a long time St. John's fan said Howland is a real hard ass. He's a good coach, but the UCLA players were continually looking over their shoulders after every mistake because they knew they'd be coming out of the game. They play much more free with Alford as coach. Also, something to consider if he came here is that he had no relationship with LA area coaches or the AAU coaches and Arizona was beating him for recruits from LA. Just a very uptight guy who is a successful coach. St. John's can't have that happen here.After reading that SI article about what was going on at UCLA while Howland was the coach, I'd prefer not to go down that path.

Maybe that is why Marquette is not jumping at him! Didn't know that about him! If its the case I agree.
Howland is a step backwards...Lav is our coach. Lets hope we can land some blue chippers for the future or nab a legit transfer or two. there is plenty still out there.
