Indiana, Tues., Nov. 24, 2 PM, ESPN2 & 970AM

Still a lot to work on but pretty good showing for us considering what we are right now. Stayed tough against a very good team. I know Indiana's poor play kept us in it, but the guys showed up ready to play. Obviously it's way too early to evaluate Mullin as a coach but I like that both times we've really gotten our doors blown off, the team didn't look demoralized in the following game. Those were bad losses that could have snowballed into the next game. Managing a team's moral and energy is just as important as rotations and X's and O's.

Felix not always making the best choices but he is finishing! And he is a sparkplug where a bunch of our guys can start looking really passive. Felix adds the speed and athleticism this team desperately needs. He also passes bullets.

another reason to love Sima is that he has really good hands and no problem with this type of passing. Jones also seems to have improved in this area. He snaked a few that I found myself assuming he'd fumble.

Balamou 14pnts 4assts 4boards 1 steal
Mussini 17 and 4 Stls

Today only 11 turnover after only 8 yesterday, they are improving there

So are we done in Maui or another game vs the loser of UNLV and Chaminade?

We get the loser of UNLV and Chaminade.

As my mom used to say "When life gives you chamins, you make... champagne". (Just kidding, it was Chaminade). It's like Gatorade but pineapple flavored.

I hope Chaminade wins in an upset. I'd rather play UNLV, instead.

Chaminade doesn't do anything for me. We should win that game. In the event, we do lose, then it's not good pub.

Indiana is a very talented BB Team and can be a contender in the Big 10.. We gave a much better team a game and that's promising. i believe Mussini and Sima will become excellent BB players, you can see their talent.

They will be part of the Team's development and progress in the next few years. Mussini needs more PASTA , Louie! he can easily use 20 lbs to get to 175-180 next year. Sima also will fill out and not be muscled as easily as now. He has a slight frame that can develop and carry more weight.

Balamou again played hard, and posted up the IU guys frequently or blew by them. Ron played well but, thought he made a poor decision trying to drive down the lane late in the Game and was stripped of the Ball. I was looking for another Mussini 3 there to make it a closer final score.. Our fans should know he is not a natural PG and is playing out of position. he is a shooter and scorer not a playmaker and should not be criticized for not setting others up.. They should be getting him the Ball more , not him getting them the ball.

Our view as fans for this year should be on Mullin continuing to bring in quality BE talent and I agree with Walton that some kids would love to play in NYC for a HOFAMER and another HOF player in Mitch Richmond. Walton threw many, many bouquets to Mullin, Richmond and Louie. He also praised the School's Heritage, which I thought was classy of him..

Walton is a little flaky but, he was kind to our Team..

Walton: "I love trees." lmao wtf is he on espn? His brain is fried.

St. John's Head Coach Chris Mullin...

On the team's performance against No. 13/14 Indiana:

"It was a gutty performance. For the most part we rebounded and competed. I thought [today] was a good bounce back game. Our defense was much better and I told our guys if we play like that we're going to get rewarded [in the long run]."

On the team's improvement:

"The guys have worked hard. A lot of it is from a lack of experience, which you cannot fast forward. Experience is something you go through and when you go through it, there's going to be some painful nights. I keep telling them that [experience] is going to make us better. It's not going to happen right away.

Walton is from California and has always traveled different Roads than many of us from the East.. And, he must be getting a extra $25,000 grand for his shilling for Maui Jim sunglasses every time out. He even had them on during the broadcast..

We won't be getting a steady diet of him so, I stand by his kindness and optimism that Chris Mullin will build this team. All his craziness aside, Walton knows BB !

You might be getting your wish. Chaminade up 4 at the half.

UNLV would probably crush us though, because they press full court.

I am keeping track of moral victories this year. 3-2-1 so far

I've never been big on moral victories, but am willing to accept some against better teams this year and next as part of our growth as a team.

It's not even moral victories, as much as it's looking for positives to build on. Players, coaches, and fans will go crazy if we just focus on the negative, especially with such a young group.

This one is over, and, UNLV's, Derrick Jones has turned it into his own personal dunk-a-thon.

Bill Walton never stopped talking, but a lot of what he said was filled with praise of Coach Mullin and the SJU program. If I was a parent of a potential recruit, I would be impressed with all the wonderful things Walton said about Mullin as a player, athlete, and person.

Thanks for the link, Paultzman. Loved reading it. I've been a huge Bill Walton fan going back to his UCLA days, and his flakiness doesn't bother me at it. In fact, I get a kick out of it.

Hi Ray!
I was in a restaurant with no voice on the game - at one point I think it was the second half I saw a special piece with Chris in Hawaii being interviewed - this was followed by shots of him in his SJU days! I bet this added to the positive exposure of the staff, team and program (?)

all the best
