Indiana, Tues., Nov. 24, 2 PM, ESPN2 & 970AM

Mvouvika tends to play by himself too much.
Team tired out near the end due to the short bench forcing extended minutes by some.
Thinking more than 10 wins this season.
Team does not quit!
:)

I'm thinking the one-on-one play that we are seeing is going to fade out as this group continues to figure out how to play together. Staying healthy will be key.

12-18 would be a high water mark as far as I'm concerned, else 10 or 11 wins should be a reasonable goal. Year 2, 16-14, year 3 contend for NCAA bid

Walton stated that LoVette is best player on team and hopefully can play this year but he is hurt on crutches.
Also noted he has a huge personality

I didn't expect Mvouika to be as complete of a player. To me, that's the biggest surprise so far. Mussini has a beautiful stroke from 3...if he's here for 4 years...
Anyway, I still think we win 10 or more games. Durand Johnson has the tools, but he rarely looks comfortable out there. It's a process, we're at the beginning, I have no problem with that.

I think Johnson is pressing, where do you think Mussini will be for 4 years?

on a short list of our all time top 3 point shooters.

Europe I think is what he was implying. I would also never rule out Porn

If
Anthony Glover a lot of heart yet but he was a very skilled, smart player.

Jones has skills too. He has an NBA body, and can jump. Based on that, he should rebound more than he does. Something is missing.

Lacks solid basketball instincts & concentration. Half of defense is anticipating & unfortunately Chris doesn't. Not knocking him, just theorizing what is missing.

Good job by Mullin keeping Johnson glued to the bench down the stretch.
I saw maybe the last 10 minutes of the game and did not notice Durand. His stats weren't that bad. He has been a disappointment. What did he do or not do to deserve the Benching? I will say I am very pleased w Ron and he is playing like I thought Durand would. Pleased w the performance. Hopefully Ellison and Williams won't be out too long.

Some NFL team should go the Gates, Gonzalez and Graham route and draft him to play TE

Ok I thought you were implying he would leave for the Nba. I guess he could always decide to go play overseas.

Today Johnson watched Balamou take over his starting job. Got to love his energy and speed, playing with much confidence.
Amar has to get aggressive, not a great replacement for Sima.

Not so much what he did as it was Balamou playing so well when subbed in for him.
He made some tough ass buckets.

The problem is there is a ceiling for Balamou as he can't shoot. If the team was going to be significantly better than we all think, Johnson was going to be a big part of it. Maybe coming off bench will get him going.

We could have easily lost this by 20. Lots to not like (esp Johnson), but the tenacity I love. Against a team like Indiana, you lose these ones, but against a Rutgers or DePaul, we can win.

I think too often, Mussini brings the ball up to someone and he doesn't see it again.I think he needs to get more touches.

Balamou by far the best athlete on the team. It's a shame his career was mismanaged. I've been making excuses for DJ, blaming the layoff. But Mvouika off a long layoff playing much better. When Amar comes in, I get the same feeling when the Mets brought in Tyler Clippard. In other words, a sinking one. We played better, but Indiana helped keep us in the game. They are playing way out of synch. Jones is frustrating to watch. Walton didn't seem too impressed with his game, knocking him at every turn. He is Anthony Glover minus the heart.

I found it very hard to get my oldest son to suddenly become aggressive, and yet he was called radar because of his excellent shooting. It bugs the hell out of me watching this big body of Jones not pull down rebounds. It's obvious we could use Owens once Sima gets in foul trouble. As I previously mentioned Amar lacks aggressiveness and good hands.
BTW, more improvement with only 11 turnovers. Missed too many foul shots after we trailed by 6 points,.

Ron 17pnts 5boards 3assts
Balamou 14pnts 4assts 4boards 1 steal
Mussini 17 and 4 Stls

Today only 11 turnover after only 8 yesterday, they are improving there

So are we done in Maui or another game vs the loser of UNLV and Chaminade?
Felix is playing much better than I expected. I like Mussini , but he had 4 TOs and no assists. Hopefully Yakwe will get cleared for next year. Jones is OK , but as mentioned doesn't rebound well.
