Thanks, something to read on the way home from work on the train to help me get psyched for the game tonight.

Have heard from several folks SJU will travel to France and Spain this summer.

Great if true.

These types of trips also help with recruiting.

Not trying to be argumentative but what do you base your statement on ?
I think the international trip which every team is eligible for every four years is not an advantage which is particular to SJU. It seems to me that hard work on the recruiting trail, a winning record, a proven style of play and a style of play that suits the recruits strengths far outway anything else. Furthermore our last few European recruits have not proven to be too beneficial for the program. I strongly prefer the juco and high school route when it comes to recruiting.

Probably not a strategy to rest upon but overall no down side. I do seem to recall a recruit committing to a school within the past few seasons and saying (paraphrase) that his choice of school over other very good choices was helped because they had a trip scheduled the following summer that he was going to be able to participate in.

Karim Mane , a 6 5 pg from Montréal is visiting Marquette this weekend. Karim is an outstanding athlete, is the number one player in Canada in the class of 2020, has been listed as a first round pick in the NBA draft and I have also seen him listed in the top 30 for the class of 2020. At times there have been multiple NBA scouts at his games this season. He has just started to take his visits.

Some love from Jay Bilas this morning.

67. St. John's Red Storm

The Red Storm were picked to finish last in the Big East as Mike Anderson took over for Chris Mullin this season, and though they've opened league play with losses to quality teams in Butler and Xavier, they will be a very tough out in the Big East. LJ Figueroa was outstanding in the Johnnies' biggest wins this season, against West Virginia and Arizona.

Of course, this still puts us eight in the Big East, but what can you do?

Showed up on The Athletics first Bubble Watch of the season. Words on the Big East in general and St. John's specifically pasted below. Between this and showing up in the "First 4 Out" of Lunardi's Bracketology should be encouraging. Although we're all disappointed in the last 2 losses, we've set ourselves up to make a real run for an at-large bid which most of us thought was a pipe dream coming into the season. Hopefully we get better as the season goes on and can steal a few games we aren't expected to win starting with tomorrow...

Big East
Nine Big East teams are most likely going to the NCAA Tournament or will hope to still be in the picture come Selection Sunday. That’s without counting Providence, with its No. 100 NET ranking and 9-6 record, which nonetheless opened conference play with wins over two of the teams on this list, and might well get there eventually.
There are 10 teams in the Big East. Insane.
Should be in: Butler, Villanova, Seton Hall, Creighton, Marquette
Work to do: Xavier, Georgetown, St. John’s, DePaul

St. John’s (11-4, 0-2; NET: 63, SOS: 109): At the time, St. John’s hiring of Mike Anderson, a coach who had been decent at Arkansas but left even Razorbacks fans, who loved him, wanting more, was not received with much enthusiasm. Shrugs, mostly. Yet Anderson has carved out one of the pleasant surprises of the season, a Red Storm team playing his brand of exciting, pressing basketball to excellent effect. St. John’s already owns wins over West Virginia and Arizona, some of this excellent league’s very best nonconference work, and began Big East play 11-2 before opening with losses to Butler and Xavier to start conference play. There’s a genuine platform for an eventual bid here, but the Red Storm still have lots more to do to be more than just a pleasant surprise.
