If I’m Benedict/Herbst I’d give him one big deal and tell him to screw. Unless the Knicks come calling he’s tipped his hand.

Jeff Goodman: “Hurley strongly considered the Lakers, but after meeting with the Lakers brass on Friday night, he ultimately decided that this wasn’t the right move for him in his career.”

Jeff Goodman: “According to my sources, he flipped his decision. He may have flipped a couple of times. He has wrestled with this decision since Wednesday. This was not an easy decision-- and it wasn't a money decision"

But yes guys, Mullins Revenge is right. it was all a big trick! He flew across the country, met with an nba team, and took an entire weekend to come to a decision as a big prank! Gotcha!
Listen to his interview today w/ fanta and some other guy. He states hurleys arm needed to be twisted to take the meeting.

No matter how you look at it, the lakers lowball offer was embarrassing. Regardless of hurleys interest, the Lakers were never serious.

At 14M they would have shown interest. 11M is a joke and something hurleys camp laughed at.

The coach at UCONN just turned down the LOS ANGELES LAKERS. Let that sink in. Regardless of how we may feel about Hurley and that program, this is a statement and a big deal for our conference.

Meanwhile, in 2019, we couldn't get the Loyola Chicago coach to come here.

In 2010, we couldn't get the Georgia Tech coach to come here, when the powers that be at Tech wanted him to come here (though I was glad for that).

Don't get your point. In 2023 we got Rick Pitino to come here.

Kinda whupped over the Hurley saga...can we start to pray for Prey please?

Thank you.

Nice nonsense, none of that in any way entitles you to decide how long another family should take to make THEIR life decision.
I’m absolutely not even taking a side you are probably both right in some points . Just chuckling because because while completely not relatable since money so much less and no relocation in 1996 when I partnered with my then partner it happened over a lunch then when he died in 2000 my new partner who I had known for a couple years a deal was struck over a 10 minute call march of 2020 ( when we all had to work from home for covid ) our second partner joined September of 2000 while appetizers were still being served ( eating outside during covid ) our 3rd partner joined over a drink at that same restaurant in 2022 our 4th partner joined after 1 meeting after our introductory dinner and our last 2 assistants had to decide yes or no the day we interviewed them

On the counterside it took me three weeks to decide if I wanted to take a department transfer inside my own office a couple months back. LOL

All those loud, obnoxious, and pompous UConn fans just became exponentially more loud, obnoxious, and pompous.
Let that sink in.
It is a big deal for the (in)sanity of the fans of our conference.

Relocation and changing careers are not things done lightly especially if you have a family who will be impacted. In 1993, I graduated law school at night while working a full time demanding day job. We lived in Flushing and had 3 girls aged 4, e
3 and 1. After several interviews I was offered a career changing job as in house counsel but it would require moving my young family from Queens to central Jersey (nowhere near as far a move as Hurley was looking at). It’s was a great opportunity but still a big move since we had no familiarity with central Jersey and lots of family and friends in Queens. The GC gave me 5 days to decide and although we knew it was a great opportunity we needed those 5 days to decide if our family was upnto
The move.

Long story short, I had an offer a few years back to relocate to a city that I have been in on business that I love and thought of retiring there. It was a great offer and I strongly considered it even though me and my spouse having never lived outside on of NYC or LI (my wife had lived in Westchester while going to College) and having a kid starting (along with parent concerns). I wound up turning it down. If offered now, story could be very different.

Ten years ago at this time there were strong rumors with some basis that the 76ers were offering Jay Wright a blank check to coach their team.
In April of that year I met Jay and Patty at a Villanova fund raising event. (Both are terrific approachable people.) I asked Patty if there was any truth to the rumors. She smirked and said Jay isn't going anywhere. No drama. No playing out the string. No reporting of meeting with Philly owners etc. No playing Nova for more money. When Kentucky had Wright high on the list for their "dream job", Wright said publicly, "I already have my dream job".
I don't like Hurley. 50 year old coaches dancing with players rubs me wrong. Yes he is a great coach. To me he's a whiny snit out of the Boeheim mold. Even him screaming "Big East , baby.." bugged me.

He milked this thing for a lot of attention. I'm sure he had a price that the Lakers didn't meet. The chance of failure in the NBA is extraordinarily high. Just ask Pitino or Donovan or Calipari. Lakers aren't suckers. 70 million or whatever it was probably was loaded w buyouts. Guessing his price was 100 million or more.
