How long have you been posting or watching this site ?

An accomplished amnesiac all I can say is it was around the turn of the millennium that I started reading posts here and have been doing so ever since.

I rarely post but read the site religiously.

This promises to be the most exciting season in years.

With all the standard bearers of New York sports falling by the wayside won't it be nice to see our Johnnies become the talk of the town again?

Still have our season tickets so hope to see some old friends at CA and the Garden.
Seems like we've unfortunately lost alot of fans who used to post here along the way. I hope it doesn't have to do with the prolonged losing.

A name that comes to mind is PepBand from my early days. MJ you remember him right?
yep I definitely remember him. Never met him but he was a good poster and seemed like a nice guy

Some posters like yours truly still come here often just to read... Shout out to the old BigEast Boards. Looking forward to the season.

I'm still amazed how many fans don't know about the boards. Season ticket holders or those who frequent many games.

That guy who worked in tourism in Asian and then Vegas was here for a long time, then disappeared. Can't remember screen name.

PepBand was also the guy who hit on the only woman on the board at the time. I think it was a real woman and not when RealFan pretended to be one.

What ever happened to Purple?
Great guy. Never met him, but we would PM from time to time. Very knowledgeable.

The irony is that we started talking on the R&P. And purple was a hard core liberal, while I am on the opposite political spectrum.

As an aside, this is one of the best threads ever. Thanks MJ for starting it.
Was Purple the one who went to Duke? The original Dukie. I know one of the more recent frequent posters also went to Duke but there was one before them.

I forgot about that guy. What a wacko he was.

I'm on here so much that I can't comprehend how non-banned former regulars just stop posting.

First joined around the year 2000 when I was about 12 years old. I'm now 30 and engaged. Time flies. This site means a lot to me and I'm really grateful that I've always had a place to go to share my love for St. John's Basketball. Met a few posters along the way - MJ definitely sticks out as a great guy.

Do miss some of the posters who contributed that I remember from my early years - Goldenleaf, Purple, PepBand, Maven (if only for the recruiting news), lawmanfan, Espken (who is still a mod but doesn't post as much) and dozens more that I can't even remember anymore.

Perhaps someone should print a few thousand business sized cards to distribute before games with our schedule on it directing students and fans to redmen.com?
I know Mike Zaun and Jack Williams would gladly distribute.:p

What has not been brought up as to why former posters no longer post is unfortunately some of them may have passed away. I know of one who was a friend of mine but unfortunately cannot recall the screen name he posted under.

I haven’t gone through each of the 10 pages of posts on this topic, but I did see a reference to the Maven. I’ve monitored the board since around ‘99, but have the sense that he’s been off of it since the early 2000s. I don’t know about any possible sensitivies, hope that I’m not ruffling feathers with the question. Thanks!

Was that "fortyseven" from the Louisville, KY area? If I'm not mistaken that was the year he graduated from St Johns. There was another older gentleman who graduated in the 1950s who would access the site via WebTV - remember that? He was always having technical problems but I was impressed that he was online every day.

I feel like lawman fan skips the offseason and returns when games start, but I could be wrong.

2 old posters stick out who one definitely I think passed away. In the R&P forum he was a master carpet bomber. His screen name was Dick. Oh man were his right wing posts fun to read. He most definitely doesn't post anymore because I'd have spotted his writing style years ago

The other posted but I wouldn't say prominent or real active but his screen name always cracked me up " BombIraqnow "

No. Much younger and stopped posting after the great purge years before he passed.
