How long have you been posting or watching this site ?

Forgot about Darrin, saw him at the 1st round BET game this past year as well.

I think the way I found this site was from searching random St. John's info on Google. This was in 2012 when I was starting my first graduate year at SJ. I was pleasantly surprised to see others as nutty about the program as I was hah. So I guess that puts me at 6 years or so? Went from my early 20's starting grad school to now only 6 months from my dirty 30. It still doesn't even look or sound right when people remind me I'm going to be 30 dear god, where has the time gone? I followed SJ hoops but only barely while at Marist as an undergrad. In 2011, my final year, I was watching TV in our house with some guys. Someone put the St. John's vs. Duke game on and someone said "holy crap St. John's is destroying them!". They were in the midst of that big streak under Lavin and I was hooked. Even though I know I can be a pain in the ass and I've had my growing pains, the truth is I'm as big a fan as you'll ever meet and I truly appreciate BSing and discussing/debating with all of you guys on here even when we don't agree. Thank you Paul for an awesome resource!

great reading the history and memories the many long timers have had here.

I was a lurker on and off for a long time.

When I moved down to NC, I began to visit the site more regularly as it was my only outlet to for current SJU basketball news... Few years ago finally decided to jump in with account ID set up and began posting.

I'm on all the time now. It's addictive.

Started posting while I attended SJU, somewhere in ‘94-‘98. I can admit it now that I would change screen names to argue with posters that were making things up. I also liked to egg the Maven on. Would often post while working in the athletic office as a student worker. Does anyone remember that 50 page survey that the athletic dept sent out to season ticket holders? Well I had the privilege of tallying them :)

Greatest memory for me was getting a piece of the net after we won the BE tournament.

4 or 5. I would forget the password and just create a new one.
Like Maher it had to be around the same time 99-00. The start of the R&P forum with many interactions with USCongress. Lol
I wonder if USC still reads the boards. He had been friends with Golden Leaf for awhile way back in the day from both being in the DC area

Kranmars will appreciate that one.
Application question Ralph is filling out for a recommendation for Norton:
How long have you known the applicant? Ralph answers-Too long!!!

OMG I'm so curious about the screen names. I have real good memory as far as posters especially the arguing because it was so much fun reading. Well not as good now but my long term memory for that is much better

Great reading and a bit nostalgic. Great summary by OTIS! Didn't post much until I retired around 2005 and I was a sarcastic ball breaker early on that led to multiple warnings, a banning, fewer warnings and now mellower senior citizen just happy God gives me another day on Redmen.com.
You see Mike Zaun, there is redemption.;)

I’m trying to recall them and will post if they come back to me. Nothing I said was memorable though lol. Some posters complaining about Fran firing, etc.

Think Johnny5 or something like that was one.

Most of the moderators are just my aliases! Kidding. Or am I ?!?!

It's been a LONG time. redmen.com now looks like this for me:

Ah, it's a combo of both, Paul.
Not a big fan of the species, but I hear you.
What ever happened to Purple?
Great guy. Never met him, but we would PM from time to time. Very knowledgeable.

The irony is that we started talking on the R&P. And purple was a hard core liberal, while I am on the opposite political spectrum.

As an aside, this is one of the best threads ever. Thanks MJ for starting it.

Seems like we've unfortunately lost alot of fans who used to post here along the way. I hope it doesn't have to do with the prolonged losing.

A name that comes to mind is PepBand from my early days. MJ you remember him right?

Aside from work, I was late to computers. I joined Redmen.com while Norm Roberts was the coach. The funny part is that the AAU team and people that I was associated with were targets of some on Redmen.com way back in the 90's, lol. St Johns missed out on a couple of recruits because of this.

Charlie Villaneuva was seriously considering St Johns. However, a poster who is no longer on this board was constantly attacking Nate Blue who was Charlie's guy. Charlie was from Queens and his mother wanted him close to home. However, due to the relentless attacks by a poster, he took St Johns off his list. Myself and Gary Charles, who was the Director of the Panthers AAU team even met with Coach Carnesecca, Alex Evans, and Kevin Clark in June of 2001 in an attempt to resolve this situation. However, all efforts to get the poster to stop being so negative were fruitless. On a side note, when Charlie visited Villanova, the same poster was there. You can't make this shit up.

Let this be a lesson to all of those who think that what is posted on message boards does not influence recruiting.

I think Flag Boy (man) was a poster here at one point.

The board is a better place without that poster being on here as Nate wasn't the only target of his attacks :)
