Homeland And All Things Maher
wicked cool.
thanks ! Sometimes I think things just happen totally for a reason. I mean what are the odds running into him only a week or 2 before we leave

It was nice to know how nice he was with her. He probably got approached soo many times a day and for him to literally stop what he was doing and just spend a lot of time talking Paris with her was beyond graceful. And his tip to get into Frenchie which was his favorite Bistro worked because they had a 3 month waiting list and we couldn't even get though on the phone

A lot of times when she meets some of these famous people on set etc some of them are kind of standoffish and keep to themselves. Some others are just beyond gracious. Tony was one of them

If you make it back to Paris, Les Papilles in the Latin Quarter should be on your radar. Frenchie sounds awesome, but our trips to Paris tends to be last minute and they book a long time in advance.

I just got back from Ireland and Paris. In Ireland 2 nights in Dublin at the top rated Merrion Hotel, then a 3 days tour of Southern Ireland including Galway, Kerry, Killarney, Cliffs or Moher (Maher), Ring of Kerry.

Then went on to Paris. Was contemplating a tour, so texted Maher, who instead gave us a great restaurant to visit.

Maher's definitely the best. It was one of the highlights of our Paris trip.
ahh thanks you are too kind ! Glad you had an awesome trip !!!
What restaurant?
Robert et Louise. Mike's gf had met Anthony Bourdain and he recommended it to her. I'd also recommend Chez Dauphine.

My wife and I are taking a cruise of Greece for our anniversary the last week of August. We fly to Rome where we board the ship and then stop at the following places in Greece: Santorini, Mykonos, Athens, and Katakolon. We spend two nights in Rome before the cruise begins.

If anyone has recommendations for restaurants in Rome or things to do at the stops in Greece I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

The two we went back to were Settimio, near the Pantheon, and Il Giardino di Albino (Sardinian Cuisine), not far from the top of the Spanish steps. We had rented an apartment with another couple near the Via Veneto and walked to everything.

Here was Bourdains tip to get into Frenchie that worked. Get there an hour before they open. Make sure it’s an hour and not 15 minutes. You will get your name first on the waiting list. Then you go to the wine tapas bar they own directly across that little street 30 feet away. If there is a cancellation you will be the first ones to get in. A table of 4 was Muslim and couldn’t eat what was being served that day ( menu changes every day with whatever the chef buys at the market that day ). At the time they did 2 seatings. 6 and 8 I think but you have to get your name on the list for thT first seating. It worked like a charm but worst case scenario you go to their wine bar and have drinks for an hour or 2 and go eat later dinner somewhere else

A close friend of mine graduated from St. Johns and lives in Rome. Her husband owns a restaurant near Termini and Santa Maria Maggiore. The restaurant name is Ristorante Leonetti. My friend's late brother was a St. Johh's season ticket holder until he died at a very young age.

New HBO show just started with Amy Adams called Sharper Objects, I like it so far. Supposed to be kind of like a true detectives show

Forgot to put these up but craft beer scene in Peru is getting better. It’s still not huge yet but it’s getting better so if you see any of these at your beer distributor if they carry a lot of overseas stuff these were the ones that I liked a lot. Just caught up on the last 200 posts in this thread. Mike - Don’t know how you have time to watch so many shows. I took your recommendation to watch the Americans a couple of months ago and am only in season 4. Love Keri Russell and the show was filmed all over New York. Caught the Bayside LIRR station and Donovan’s parking lot. In Saratoga now. Racing season starts on Friday. Will be back Whitney weekend and made a reservation for the Wishing Well. Thanks everyone!

The new Sacha Baron Cohen show called " who is america " on showtime. OMG it's hysterical !!!

The Lake House in Bayshore. Not a fan of $31 for a lobster roll but great IPAs on tap and the bartender gave Nathalie free drink and the place has excellent clawbiance. The roll itself 8.75 claws although I gave them extra clawdits for other stuff making it 9.25 overall

WAlls Wharf Bayville. Pretty good roll weather not great but deck is right on the beach so great Clawbiance. $25 for the roll not horrible price and French fries were excellent. 8.25 claw rating
