St. John’s vs. Holy Cross prediction

St. John’s 85, Holy Cross 65

Fair. I don’t care about the final score as long as we get Sim 20 minutes and Zuby 15. Wouldn’t be the worst thing to throw one of them a start here.

Agree with great time to get them some more minutes but personally I kinda wanna keep Ledlum momentum going as far as starting and building on the confidence.

It’s the prediction within the link. Yes, Sim needs to get minutes this game.

CRP operates on a much higher level than any of us. Sometimes we think that because we know how the chess pieces move that we are actually chess players. CRP is a grandmaster, and the moves he makes are based on knowledge and awareness far above ours.

For example, CRP will give some guys minutes based on matchups in a particular game, others based on what they earn in practice, others based on reviewing tape and seeing who is doing the little/big things that don't show up in boxscores like covering their man, rotating on defense, boxing out etc. The list goes on and on.

Sim and Zuby will have the opportunity to earn more minutes as the season progresses. Both have high ceiling, as does Brady. How CRP shuffles the deck right now is of no concern to me, even if I do wonder why some guys play more or less in different circumstances.

Actually the whole process for me is really fun. As Yogi Berra would say, "You can see a lot just by watching."

A lot of the preseason prognosticators believe that this is the worst team we will be playing this season. I hope so. After these last 4 games, we can use an opponent like this.

They beat Georgetown, but that probably says more about the Hoyas than it does about Holy Cross.
Jesuits beating up on other Jesuits is always news.

A crisp fall football day at West Point with the mountains and river in the background, the long gray line, the pomp and circumstance nothing better. When Army wins the players and coaches gather and sing along with the band towards their fans in the stands. I noticed the Holy Cross coach kept his guys on the field for that standing respectfully behind the Army players, but he wanted his team to take in the Moment. It was a classy and special touch.

I have a lot of friends who graduated from the Academies, but the West Point graduates are a special bunch.
Good post Brook about Army , Holy Cross and the Service Academies .

In these turbulent times , we can see things that might seem small to many but, are of significance to others .

Your mention of the Holy Cross players remaining on the Field after the game is one of those things . Observing the Army players saluting their fans was a nice sign of respect and a classy move by the HC Coach . These young Men are playing football now but , will be going off to defend and protect our Country very soon . Some of them will make the ultimate sacrifice as they deploy to War Zones and be in harms way .

In a few weeks , we will see the Army -Navy football game . It’s not going to be a contest of future NFL players but , will be a game between the best of America , future leaders of our Military . It’s worth a look .

Looking forward to seeing RJ Luis out there. Would also love to see Brady play significant minutes in this game and produce to get his confidence up as being a legitimate option when inserted in there for other games. Look for your shot brady and be confident to take it!!

My daughter, a Holy Cross grad and HC track record holder asked me who I was rooting for. I laughed.😂👍 She the brought up to me that Holy Cross beat Georgetown, that gave me a bigger laugh. 😂😂😂
Same daughter '11 Grad of T C of the HC, great academic school. [She was not a track star, a Classics major with no Sports bent].

She went to SH Law, '14, but not a fan when we play SH she roots for US!!!!

She'll probably root for us against HC, for her Dad!

Great post SF1968

Agree with you 1,000%, having worked with so many ex-Military (the Marines are never "Ex", once a Marine always a Marine), to a person the best and most honorable people I have ever been around, the USMA at the top of that heap.

Eric- Agreed I am anxious to see RJ Luis, from all reports he is LJ Figuerora only much better, we'll see?.

Dunlap, I am a little worried about --- being at the Michigan game in person. Not too many of the guys looked good in that one. HC might be the perfect chance to play him multiple minutes to get his feet wet, and see how he responds.

Thanks BJR. I am sure you know but , many don’t is that a fair number of Annapolis grads don’t go into the Navy but , opt to be Marines .

The Marines are part of the Navy Department but , have their own Commandant and Command Structure. Annapolis grads have the option of Navy or Marines upon graduation .

I’m a Army vet so , Go Army beat Navy .,,

Where are these reports? If he’s as good as LJ we will be in a great spot.
I loved LJ but the last thing this team needs is another shot-dominant player. We are already trying to shake our only potential alpha scorer from #3 option to his rightful place and trying to get the current 1 and 2 to fall back.

The biggest thing he offers IMO is someone who can get into the lane and kick it. Then it’s his ability to shoot and draw contact in the lane. His shot is slow as can be but it’s so smooth.

The defense is a question mark to me but he should get some steal and be able to keep 3 positions honest.

First year LJ is one of the best seasons we have seen from a non lead scorer since I’ve been a fan. Absolutely loved watching him play. Second year he was shot dominant and took some ugggly shots. Still always brought it as a defender and rebounder.

It’s funny, if the year he had under CMA was in CMA’s last season as coach, after most fans were done with him, I think a lot more fans would have been in LJs corner.
