He was active down low on defense and on the glass. Doing the fundamentals we take for granted like actually blocking out and getting hands in passing lanes. Keep it up young man!
heyheyhey you're short changing the kid, he also had a steal, assist, and a blck shot.
Only 1 foul to go with that. For him I'm impressed
Trimble had a nice day. He is becoming a solid defensive player that can guard 2-4 positions. Offensively, he needs to be able to do more than shoot the 3 if he is going to be more of a complete player. He is filling his role nicely so far as the team does not need much more offensive production. Wonder if he will take a foul shot this year???? Glad to see he is embracing his role.

Let’s keep tacking on the wins. N.Y. becomes infectious when its teams win.
You can see the nascent pulse of that, with 9 wins over mostly low - mid D1 competition.
Imagine the excitement generated in the N.Y. Metro, if St. John’s continues this through the BEC season, which I believe they’ll do with a mix of talent, grit, and luck.
Let’s go Johnnies!

He is one of the only guys on the entire roster that closes out on the three point line and though only 6-3 when gets caught down low he battles
Ponds gets himself up to 64% from 2 on the year. Just unbelievable
Are we at a place yet were you are comfortable enough with me being pro Ponds that I can throw some shade at him? Or will you still have a tizzy fit? Well either way, he HAS to pay more attention on D and closeout much, much better. He is almost as bad as Dixon. Last year gave him a pass because he had to do everything. Needs to do better there. Simon too. Dixon shouldn't play at all in 2nd half. And he generally does not play from 10 minute mark on.

Is anyone going to that nova game at the pavilion this year? It’s during winter break for me, and nova is like a 25 minute drive from my house, my dad and I might have to go this year. Last time we went to the pavilion, D Harrison scored 36 and we lost

Hey Jack,
For the second year in a row, I'm going to miss Nova at the Garden, so am contemplating making the trip. Maybe we can meet there.

Great game overall. Crowd was much more lively than I was expecting for an early Sunday game.

We picked it up defensively in the 2nd half but if we want to take the next step we really need to be more disciplined helping off shooters. This includes knowing who the shooters are before they make 4 threes in the first 5 minutes. The pre-game scout should have all of the necessary information (player tendencies, strengths, weaknesses etc.) and any pre-game walk through should have our bench acting as the opponents rotation players so our rotation guys are used to defending the actions our opponents are using on offense. Right now I don't see how they can be preparing this way, so I hope that changes. Also please please please stop helping from the strong side corner. That's taught in frosh year HS ball. Simon and Dixon gave up 12 points on that simple mistake yesterday.

Offensively, we looked great outside of a few TOs. Ball was really moving. When Simon doesn't have the ball, his defender basically leaves him and stands in the middle of the paint. Paying him no respect from the 3 point line really shrinks the court, but until he starts hitting wide open 3s every team will be doing this. Having Clark, LJ, Dixon, Heron and Trimble, on the court (all good shooters) really helps spread it out. Really gives Ponds space to maneuver. I wouldn't be surprised if our best offensive 5 come BE time doesn't include Simon for this reason.

Finally, with us being 12.5 favorites and up 15 with a few seconds left, did anyone else notice the crowd scream "Noooo!!" on the last play of the game when Princeton drove and kicked out for a wide open 3. When he missed the place erupted like we upset Duke. Definitely made the mortgage or rent easier for some ;)
