Hindsight is 20/20

Yes 90% of that on coach
Spent summer arguing didn’t love roster. Bought into he is Rick Pitino.
Scary thing is even if Rick comes back next year, roster going to be much worse.

You are the type of person apparently that is never wrong (of course look at your handle) even though it’s in black and white the things you are being called out on. Can you admit you thought ncaa 1 game win as floor and sweet sixteen as ceiling? Without saying Rick Pitino??

Even a Hall-Of-Fame coach should enter a new situation with a modicum of humility. What’s bothered me from the start is the idea of telling kids who’ve been here for two or three years “forget any experiences/friendships you’ve had here. You don’t fit into my plans, goodbye.” The fact that the season is falling apart is what we used to call Instant Karma.

It's happening now and respectfully saying this some are just hopping on the bandwagon. Let's be fair now and I'm not talking about the play currently. The current play is total fair game as a team and been crap but Let's talk recruiting specifically. To be even more specific let's not talk about when Rick first got hired and I'm saying this as one of the several who were insanely pissed off in the beginning. My anger went up till the day of the Novita party. We got Slaz that day and I was beyond pessimistic I just didn't post my opinion a lot but people who know me here know. But that's not the point I'm definitely not claiming I was right I'm saying I was wrong from the point we got Glenn Taylor starting that day I can readily admit I changed and got happy quick. Dingle Brady Wilcher Luis etc it was like Marillac after 10 beers then going to the San Genarro festival and eating his weight in meatball hero's. And let's throw in Joel. #1 what posters here didn't want Soriano back ? Again show me your posts. And let's start from the point Taylor signed because like I said again several of us were pissed. My point being from the Taylor point we all were happy.

And I'm not knocking the kids in hindsight I would have done the same exact thing and I want the ones that can come back to come back and wish our others well after this year

If those that were unhappy with Sori coming back or any player signed from the point we got Taylor I'd love to see the posts

State your name and your post before the season started proving this

The point of this isn't actually to show anyone up. What I'm saying is I was happy with every single recruit from Taylor on and I readily admit it. But stop piling on the kids like they shouldn't have been recruited when most likely you loved their signings
Appreciate your honesty and candor. Having watched workouts over the summer and preseason practices, I thought this team definitely had a chance to make the NCAA tourney. I believe that this season turned with the loss to Creighton. Win that road game and the team's confidence is through the roof.

One thing I have learned in life is that we can't change the past, so dwelling on it serves no purpose. Now, I am rooting for us to win out and make it to the final of the Big East tournament. We just have to take it A Game At A Time.

Agree completely Panther. Expressing disappointing over how Rick handled some things, and how the season has turned out so far, is one thing. But constantly dwelling on coulda, shoulda, woulda is a whole other. Heck we even have a thread titled "what if". This is a message board and everyone is free to speak their mind and vent their frustration, but continuously dredging up the past, as you say, serves no purpose.

Yes Panther!!

We need to keep rooting like heck and although circumstances and chances are dwindling, we still have a chance to dance. Need to keep positive vibes flowing. This team can do it still!!!!

Yes I did
But again read the post

So what are u saying that is not the players it is Pitino?

Lots of posts lately killing the kids they aren't big east players I saw some Soriano shouldn't have come back or he's not good posts.

The point it simple. Starting middle of our recruit landing almost every poster here pretty much got insanely happy. Virtually all of us now some are having short term memories
The point is everyone on here has been long suffering St.J fans. Every year the vast majority of us get caught up in the preseason hype about incoming players, coaches, etc. And then the board, not on purpose but because of the yearning for success, throws gas on the fire and we get more and more revved up because that's what we do.

The arrival of Rick and the 4-1 BE start just drove expectations through the roof and when the wheels started to fall off some started berating players.

I think Rick's gonna do good things here but, like the Jet fan I am, I'm just going to continue to be frustrated and accept it.:cautious:

Actually, it does, it serves to piss me off!! :ROFLMAO:🤬

Rooting for this team as I do, and being realistic about them are two different things, and are mutually exclusive. I had my doubts from the beginning about hiring a 70 year old to revise our program. Being over 70 and at the end of your career at an established program like Boeheim or Coach K is very different than being 70 and being asked to revitalize a program from scratch. I hoped it would work, and it still might, but I have my doubts. I also disagreed with not bringing back players from last years team. It was going to be a problem. Trying to integrate 11 new players into a cohesive playing unit would be very difficult to do. I hoped it would work, but so far it has not. It still might work, but I have my doubts.

Using old posts against people to judge their feelings at various points in time about the team, players, coach etc. is for losers trying justify their own misjudgements regarding Pitino and the players he recruited. Posts may vary based upon a win or a loss, a new recruit who sounds good but nobody has seen him play, and other factors. An individual, post may not reflect the posters full feelings regarding coach, team or players.

Of course, the difficulty in integrating virtually a whole new team went into the decision to do so but was deemed a risk that had to be taken. Just the way of things. It hasn’t worked out to anyone’s satisfaction so far this year but that’s life.
As for hiring Pitino, who would you have hired because it has been a VERY long time since St. Johns has been considered a quality job? Fraschilla was a quality hire at the time but self destructed on two fronts, overplaying his hand regarding desire to stay pat at St. Johns and overplaying his hand in terms of undressing. Jarvis was a retread, as were Lavin and Anderson, Roberts primarily a “poke and hope” stopgap after the Jarvis fiasco.
The Johnnie’s stumbled into Pitino and really had to go there, this doom and gloom because of the first year may turn out to be real but incredibly, incredibly premature IMO.

We all got Pitino euphoria based on who he is and what he’s done .
You called it right . But , has Kranmars sent you a PM on your earlier post ?
Nearly everyone was ecstatic with every player brought in from the transfer or NIL portal .

We were getting the 2 Ivy League studs from Marillac2 ‘s 12 best league in America . Dingle and Ledlum .
We were thrilled Soriano was returning and Trarore too.

We were not upset that RP was bringing a good chunk of his Iona team that had battled UCONN better than any team the Huskies played until they won the Title .

But , we all pretty much thought that was including Clayton jr too. Which bad luck for us didn’t happen .

The 2 freshman , Dunlop and Wilcher were going to be standout players for us , after their first year of BE play .

All the excitement seemed to temper down after the Pace Setters beat most of our team in a scrimmage . That was a warning shot but , things got better after Charleston , despite losing earlier to a less than great Michigan team .
And, BC .

Still expectations rose mightily after beating X and Butler at home and a close loss at Conn .

The SH rout caused concern but , winning at Villanova and home vs PC reignited the fan base .

Need I go on ? The rest as they say , is history up to now .

What are we to do vs SH at UBS?

Will it juice us up a bit or put a nail in the box ?

Ever onward …

Hindsight is 20/20 but this post appears to be 80 proof.

In all seriousness, I felt much like mjm. I thought Pitino had lost his mind when he jettisoned all but two of last year's team and lost his mojo when Clayton turned him down and he was basically signing his old Iona team along with Conway. Then the slew of top-ranked transfers came along with Dunlap and Wilcher and I was bathed in the warm glow of Pitino success.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Well I tried but you said it better :)

Excellent textbook use of spacing

Hindsight is indeed 20/20. And in hindsight it can’t be denied that the decision to pass on Danny Hurley to hire Chris Mullin was one of the worst decisions in the history of college sports. One that we’re paying for and will continue to pay for, many years to come
Agree
