Harkless Update

Moose

Wanted to post something during his last game but held off. Unfortunately what I was expecting came true tonight. Moe has been struggling of late and with Glen Davis returning from injury I was waiting for the game that Moe didn't start and it was tonight. With Vucevic in the middle and Davis at the PF, Orlando starts Nelson, Affalo and Oladipo. While Davis was out to start the year Maxiell started at PF with Moe at SF now Maxiell is getting DNP's. Moe needs to establish and embrace being the 6th man it might look like.

Just 11 minutes tonight. 1-3 from the field for 3 pts, 2 boards and 1 assist.

Last 3 games prior
15 minutes. 2-4 for 5 pts, 2 boards, 2 blocks
33 minutes. 2-8 for 5 pts, 6 boards, 1 block
31 minutes. 2-7 for 5 pts, 2 boards, 3 assists

Tobias Harris looked like a better pro going back to the trade for him last year. I was surprised Moe was still even starting. Nicholson also looks really good.

Moe lacks confidence.

He had a ton of confidence during the summer league. But once the real games started, he went in a shell.

And the offense in Orlando pretty much leaves Moe standing in the corners. His outside shot is not consistent so when he misses one, he seems to check out.

On the positive side, his qualifying offer was picked up and the season is still early. Could be worse.

Forgot about Harris. He must be hurt so add him into the rotation as well

Gotta disagree about Nicholson though. He hasn't shown me enough but again I don't exactly catch every Magic game

Nicholson has shown more than Moe.

He probably has the best post game on the team and he can shoot it from outside.

He is more of a PF because he does has a back to the basket game but he has a decent jumper as well.

If Harris gets healthy, they can't justify giving Moe minutes over him. Harris is just more game ready.

Why are his minutes low then? Why didn't he get the starts when Maxiell started when Davis was hurt? Just asking because it seems like you watch your share of Magic games

Harris?

High ankle sprain. Missed the first 12 games of the season.

If you're referring to Nicholson, this explains his game better than I can: http://www.orlandopinstripedpost.co...tarting-lineup-andrew-nicholson-tobias-harris

FWIW teammate Nicholson is #11.

19. Maurice Harkless, Magic
Harkless has probably experienced the biggest fall of the sophs since their rookie season. That's because the NBA game is unyielding for someone who can't shoot, and that is the problem for Harkless. Free throws, jump shots, 3s -- all are a mess for him right now.

He is still an effective slasher who draws fouls, and his length and athleticism help him get at least one steal or blocked shot in almost every game. But until he gets his shot figured out, he'll be leaving a ton of unfulfilled potential on the bench.

And Marcus Smart stayed another year because he said "I want to improve my shooting." He wanted to improve his jump shot and he said college was the perfect place to not have a ton of pressure. Good rookie season, but Moe should've stayed maybe one or two more years until he had a consistent jump shot.

It would have been great if Harkless had stayed another year but, from his perspective, the $$$ was there and he took it.

As to whether another year under Lavin would have improved his shooting is questionable. Lavin doesn't have a career long resume of improving Talent from his players.

Let's hope Harkless, who is what 20-21 years old, develops the parts of his game that need more polish.. I'm thinking he's getting better Coaching from Orlando than he would have gotten here..

I believe Crgreen once gave a pretty, decent list of players who improved under Lavin, if I'm not mistaken. Someone else may can verify this one for me. Not to mention, a few of the 2010-2011 roster looked improved under his watch, as well.

But keep chirping along.

Harkless had a better game tonight.
4-7 from the field. 3 for 4 from three point line. 2 steals in 17 minutes. Hopefully he can focus and build from here.

Gotta watch how good/bad Orlando does this year. Because if they are looking at Top 3-5 pick with all the SF's that play Moe's position he might be either sitting on the bench or packing his bags for hopefully a better fit down the road.

Moe tonight: a second solid game in a row:

16 points. 7-13 from the field (though only 1-4 from three); 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks. only 1 turnover.

Overtime vs Philly

8 minutes
0 points
0/0 FG
1 block
3 Personal fouls
1 turnover

Couldn't wait to post this, huh?

What is your point? Get a life.

This is an update thread on the kid.

He's had three good games in a row and you don't post a word. He has arguably his worst game as a pro...update...your first actual "update" on Moe. The timing of this is right after you had several posts knocking Moe's decision to turn pro. Yeah, it could just be an update....

Someone already posted about his previous games.

The only reason the game came to my attention because it was a record-setting night and 2 rookies had triple doubles. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have paid any attention or even known the game was going on.

Curious as to how he didn't get minutes in a game that went to OT and the other SF is out with a high ankle sprain.

This is the 2nd Harkless thread (Pied Piper was the first) and in the previous one I had good things to say while he was playing well. I couldn't care less if Moe went pro or not. My post had nothing to do with that. Get out your feelings. It's unbecoming.

Like I said,
1) you're reaching
2) get a life
3) read #2 again since you missed it the first time

Everybody that has watched Harkless play knows he is not that good, he has so many weaknesses in his game but the NBA makes it impossible not to enter the draft. Guarenteed money for a first round pick is so stupid. He had to enter the draft. He will probably be out of the league or a journeyman in 5 years. Look at Daniel Orton, drafted first round, 3 teams, 3 years but guaranteed money, he will then make money playing in Europe against inferior competition.

Raise your hand if you think mo harkless is not that good... Notice that no one is raising their hand.
