Guessing he was dimming on Matt’s radar for awhile now, thanks to your tea-leaf ‘guidance’. So not a surprise. Hoping not needed in future and we get that ‘Mystery Big’ soon...

Jordan Brown has a top 3 of Arizona, Cal, and Nevada per Evan Daniels. Others "still involved" LOL. Is anyone other than Matt ever going to close on a recruit? When is this new assistant coach arriving? Any month now I'm sure.

That's 2 years in a row DePaul has scored a very good grad transfer big. I hope Femi doesn't burn us for 25 and 11 the way Maric did last year.

Sorry, I can see losing a kid to Georgetown, but not to any of those other schools. That's scary and disheartening. I know we were kind of not in it at the end, but boy that stinks.

Yup & did a good job selling him on their offensive inclusion of big men. Their two main interior guys got a lot of touches last season. Here, right or wrong, not so much. Easy to see why he opted for better opportunity to exhibit his offensive skills.

Funny, I see your point, but I was relieved he picked DePaul over G*Town, since the Hoyas are a threat to us and imo the Blue Demons aren’t IF Ponds returns.
That said, It’s troubling we couldn’t snare a local kid.
Dunno how much of it was our style of play or CMs absence from Femi’s visit.
He would’ve been our missing piece.
We’ll never know.

Dunno, and I’m curious why our ‘big guys’ had so few ‘touches’ last year?
Was it due to our guard-primo-offense approach exclusively—or was it also because our ‘bigs’ weren’t prototypical ‘bigs’?
Clark seems more a wing player despite good size, and Owens seemed incapable of an inside game dictated by ‘body type’, no post moves, and his outside shooting utopia-myopia fixation.

Chicago, seems like Femi voted his answer to your question with his commitment to DePaul. If he felt he'd be a big part of the offense here, have to think we would have been right in the thick of things, given he is from Long Island, chance to play in MSG and we should be a better team.

It's pretty obvious that DePaul had a starting spot to offer and neither did we or Georgetown. Have to think that was a huge factor.

Exactly. This kid was clearly looking for the most playing time possible with a lot of touches and we just couldn’t offer that. People forget that recruiting is more than just beating out programs that are “lower” than you.

Yeah except I think it was more a combo of things. I think it was likely he would’ve gotten 25+ minutes between spelling Keita and Clark.
And I think the reasons why we had no post game last year was because we had bigs whose ‘game’ wasnt living in-the-paint but more finesse players—plus our guard-oriented play dictates a faster pace.
I bet Keita gets Boards and touches down low, but who knows.
And I may be in a minority on this, but I’m very happy we ‘lost’ him to DePaul and not to G*Town or Providence or the Hall.

Plus, I will not dwell on it for fear of again being accused of ‘negativity’ but it is reasonable to speculate that Femi might’ve been awed by meeting Mullin on his visit and thought harder about where to go.
Probably not—but who knows?
Just ‘wondering’ about that.
No axe to grind.
It is what it is at this point.

Femi I was told did his homework and looked at a lot of video of our games. He came away with impression that our offense precluded him from being able to adequately show offensive skills. We may disagree, but give him credit for preparing.

On another note, the African big man mentioned here a while ago has apparently vaporized. I sense they very well may proceed without an additional interior player. Recruiting being so fluid, that could change of course.

A competent big would get plenty of minutes here. 2nd year in a row whiffed on grad big.

Thanks, Paultz. Can't blame Femi for his decision if that was his conclusion. As for going w/o any other big, I continue to believe it is a mistake. However, it could be that staff feels Roberts will be ready to back up Keita and fill in during foul trouble or , God forbid, injury. As others have said, they are certainly in a better position to judge than I am.
