Get Ready for 25-26!

If Rick wants to maintain his defensive “agenda” I say he starts Mitchell and brings Sanon or Sellers as first off the bench. Mitchell brings too much to the table in defense, rebounding etc. to not start the game. You don’t need 5 scorers out there. In fact, if Dylan is far better then reported or Jackson at point isn’t working out, then perhaps both Sellers and Sanon come off the bench with Mitchell still starting. I guess only time will tell.
I think we saw this year starters also change based on opponents, so Mitchell could definitely see some starts as him next to Zuby would be amazing in the paint. Could push Hopkins to the 3, but I'd more assume that will happen in game than start. Mitchell could also be a spark plug type off the bench.

Again lots of options, great problem to have, and Rick has said he doesn't care about starters just who ends games and plays those crunch time minutes. Mitchell will be the defensive ace for those minutes I'm sure

In theory right now I think we can safely say the starts are

Jackson, Sellers, Sanon, Hopkins, Ejiofor. With Mitchell first off the bench with Darling. This kid hypothetically even in that role would have to take a backseat. I just think there's a level of ego and self belief that comes with being a top 25 kid in the country that was chased by blue bloods to accept that
I thought Zuby, Hopkins, Mitchell,Sellers and Jackson
With Sanon as 6th
???

Exactly, arguing about who starts is much ado about nothing imho. Don’t think many of us have seen Sanon or Sellers play or practice much in college so I’ll trust our coach on who best to start but whichever of the six
main guys start a game they will all get ample playing time.

Definitely going to be based on matchups next year. If we play a team like this year's Florida where they had the best and deepest front court in the country, then we're gonna need all the size we have. Currently we have 4 bigs with Prey the tallest at 6'10. Obviously Niko will have options galore but I look at Niko a little bit like a Haugh from Florida this past season. That kid just got better and better every game and quite frankly, they don't beat Texas Tech in the Elite 8 without him. He was the unsung MVP. He's a lottery pick next year if he keeps that up for an entire season.

I could see a trajectory like that for Niko where in Year 2 he becomes a star. Obviously Niko is a lot higher ranked than Haugh coming out of HS and has some serious options but I honestly think there's a place for Niko on next season's team in limited action. And depending on matchups he could get some good run like 15 minutes/game in certain matchups. I honestly think we need another big when playing those huge front lines in the SEC, Big 12, B10, ACC and beyond in OOC and March madness. And to get a big as skilled and athletic as him would just be gravy.

Don’t think there is anything safe about who starts at the 2 or 3. Likely multiple combinations.

I think we have six starters, seven if Darling is as good as Pitino thought he was in the workout. I'll leave it to coach to figure out the minutes distribution.
Or you can just decide 😜😉 agree with having more than just 5 definite starters and based on RP track record there will probably be multiple different starting lineups. If the two are essentially equal position and talent wise would start Sanon over Sellers to keep the guy happy who theoretically could return for the next season. Starting does matter to some of these kids.

The range of outcomes for Sanon is crazy. His ceiling is 1st round pick and his floor is a repeat of this season. He's got a lot of moving parts compared to the smoother, more efficient Sellers. But he can get his own jumper and that will replace a lot of what RJ brought from the perimeter. Sellers is much more reliant on others.

My early guess is you see Darling and Sellers together for the drive-kick-corner jumper combo. Might need Jackson and both early for extra ball-handling. A lot depends on how good Jackson is at the 1 and how good Sanon, Sellers, and Hopkins defend.

I'm really liking the Zuby-Mitchell-Sanon-Sellers-Jackson lineup more and more.
