@Georgetown, Tue., Jan. 28 , 6:30p, FS-1

Georgetown is averaging 5,239 a game (25% capacity). Tickets can be had for as low as $4 for its next home game.

It's not quite DePaul yet, but years of neglect of the fan base takes its toll.

Awful to see. A rising tide lifts all boats, so I'd like to see the Hoyas come back.
It really just puts into perspective how loyal St. John's fans have been through the objectively worse run from 2003 until Pitino.

I was very curious to see what types of dips our attendance was during the Norm years. Wikipedia does a great job of having all attendance in parentheses.

2008-2009, which does jive with my memory, is unbelievable.

We had four games at Carnesecca Arena with less than one thousand people. MSG against Marist for Holiday Festival was 4k. Against Miami, from my brief scan, was the only game under 5k for a high major opponent. Garden was typically around 6-8k.

Glover really needs to learn how to “help defend” better and not get lost out there, all part of his learning curve. Sim had similar challenge and is finally displaying defensive consistency in year two.
Right now, he (and Ayo) are the opposite of Prey. Glover and Ayo think it's important to come in and do something special. That often leads to bad shots, turnovers, and missed assignments. Prey is embracing playing defense, not screwing up anything on offense, and allowing starters to get some rest.

In Glovers case it's easy to see how talented he is, and to be optimistic about his eventual ability to be an impact player. Eventual being a key word.

The only SJU game I attended during the Norm period was that Marist game, as my daughter was attending Marist at that time. I wouldn't say I was surprised by the "crowd" but it was depressing to see.

The best thing for the Big East is to have St. John’s, Villanova, Georgetown and DePaul be very good. Those are our four biggest markets. UConn has a national brand at this point so them also.

With Glover you see the potential oozing. I think he can be a major contributor next year with another year of development and continue to contribute some this year kind of like what we saw Sim do off-and-on last year as it progressed.

Great time chopping it up with both Nick’s at pregame. Our programs athletic development could not be in better hands.
We were there, sorry to have missed you. We sat with both Nicks at the game behind the bench. A bunch of Pitino's friends behind us were having quite a good time. Especially when the roving beer salesman stopped by...of course, I was the first one to order one of his products.

Next time for sure 65. Pregame at Irish Channel was popping, amazing what winning does for the die hards spirits.

Two ponts: I am starting to understand Coach's "Jack 'em up!" policy on 3s. If we hit 5 or 6 out of 22 but have 10 more possessions than the opponent, that means we hit 5 or 6 3s! I'm OK with that. Also, I'm going to make a bold prediction. After watching Marquette plat Butler, I think we will wipe the floor with them - We win by more than 15 at home, but I'm not as confident about the away game.

Was saying this morning to a co-worker who asked that Georgetown needs to keep Sorber and Peavy and add a disciplined, low-turnover PG in the portal. Throw in Fielder and Mack and that would be a good team next year. A Hassan Diarra clone is about all they would need for PG.

I do not think either Sorber or Peavy is ready but I can see an NBA team drafting Sorber on potential. I think he should come back, he reminds me of the center from Creighton 6 year ago or so who had a ton of ability but came out too soon and washed out of the league. Another year would do Sorber good from a basketball development standpoint. Also he got hurt in both games against us, adding some physical strength and maturity would help him.
Peavy is in his 5th year so assume he cannot come back
