Why? We accomplished a great feat. We did something we only had a 1% chance of doing. I predict more great things ahead.

Lol, the funny thing is we probably have a 1% chance of winning the next 8 games (or maybe 6 since the schedule gets tougher), but that seems like a 1 in a million type scenario. Whereas losing another 6-8 games wouldn't surprise anyone.

Amazing. I just checked the board and figured for once the fans on this board, dare I say die hard fans, would see this for what it was: another tough loss in a season where the team is just plain snake bit. On the court, off the court, everything just has turned out bad. The team played their eyeballs out, and. as often happens in a nightmare stretch like this, they lost in the last few seconds. And yet, here we are with the "it's Mullin's fault" chant by the usual suspects. I suggest the team needs a laugh to loosen up. All the posters with their in depth knowledge of the game who offer such wisdom as "have the players watch their mistakes on video so they won't do it again" should address the team and staff before next game. Because I'm sure, in these poster's eyes, Mullin never thought of that. He only played over a thousand games total in pro and college, for at least 3 coaches who are in the basketball hall of fame, 2 for their coaching careers. My guess is they do what every poster recommends, and about a thousand things more that the Mullin haters never heard of, let alone thought of.

I don't know in the end if Mullin's hire will work out. It certainly hasn't for anyone since Looie. Recruiting here isn't easy. Winning isn't either, as I would guess, although this Floridian may be wrong, we have less of a rabid, loyal fan base, and therefore less of a home court advantage, than almost any big east team. Again, amazing what I read here.

Culpability all around today. Not just Mullin and staff.

Missed FTs, 4 fouls on 3 pointers, poor fast breaks, no foul on last possession in first OT. Blame falls on everyone. Very frustrating to lose when up 5 with 24 seconds.

Mullin needs to have the kids face the video monitors when they are reviewing the tapes. They make the same mistakes over and over. Video coordinator should be working OT making a tape of repeated faux pas for each. These kids have not connected the dots yet and don’t seem to recognize the implications of their actions - reaching in with 4 fouls, laying off your man and not closing out with urgency, going for every ball and shot fake (how many times does Ahmed jump over a shooters head).

Frustration aside, will continue to support them and hope for some wins.

I agree with you that our guys have not connected the dots. It's possible that they are not good students of the game. It's also possible that the teachers are very poor communicators. I think it is a little bit of both. I know how much you all love Chris and we hope he "connects the dots" soon but his body language with him standing arms folded and communicating very little with the players during the game is a big problem for me. His cop out as to why and how we allowed a 3 point shot with 3 seconds left is a pure cop out. It is possible that Ewing has a better team in first year but he seems very engaged and is coaching all 40 minutes. I see a long career for him ar Georgetown.
Again it is easy to blame Shamorie for missing that crucial foul shot and blame Yakwe for that mindless foul but we were up 5 points with 24 seconds. Mullin should have gotten the attention of the players in that half a minute instead of looking like a dear in headlights with his arms folded.
Finally, enough with the Marcus LoVett would have made a difference excuses. If losing one player, a guard, in a 4 guard offense means going 0-18 then it must mean our players really suck. I don't think that is the case. Just as I don't think Amar Alibegovic parks himself on the 3 point line just because he feels like it. Same goes for Ahmed, Marvin, Owens. Very little inside game being developed or coached. Kassoum, a 4 star player out of high school, had a better freshman year as did Amar. Ahmed is having a wasted senior year. If, next year, Keita, a terrible outside shooter is taking 20 footers along with everyone else don't blame the players.

In bold: The elephant in the room. Several posters don't wanna notice it.

I was never a big fan of Ahmed, but you can see he's regressing game-by-game. He's not the only one, as you've mentioned. Potentially, going 0-18 became real after today's loss. Do I think we'll find a way to win a game or two? Yeah, I believe so. But, going 0-fer in the conference is a distinct possibility. Yikes!

I don't want to be in Mullin's house right now. I am sure this lost is being a tremendous drain on him, family both on the court (staff and players) and at home. If we can remember the joy he gave us a player, we need to support him now. He has a job now that I could not handle nor could most of you.. He has to motivate them and that is not easy when you are devastated and drained yourself. He is our coach and best player we ever had. Let 's be on his side and try to help him in anyway we can.

Losing Ahmed after this year is addition by subtraction. What a disappointment.

I hate that expression. He did have a huge putback in regulation and hit a clutch theee that should have sealed the game in OT

It ain’t Mullin fellas. This team is too thin on talent to survive losing Lovett. 17 points a game, a bunch of assists, cohesiveness on offense and defense on the opposing point guard. Is he a great X and O guy? Probably not. With Lovett last night is a different story.

Simon and Ponds outrebounded Clark and Owens ! Clark needs to get that big body in the paint on both ends. It’s as if he doesn’t know how strong he is. He gets 3 or 4 rebounds a game.

Fair enough. But with a near zero basketball IQ, I cant wait to see him go.

The flu takes time to recover from, I’m not convinced he is 100 %. Nor do I think Bash is our problem. Talk about dumb mistakes, Clark using his last foul at end of regulation giving him 5, fouling 3 point shooters but not fouling at the end giving 2 fts ,when up by 3, cost us the game that was ours.

To quote Fun. We have had so much addition by subtraction we should be NCAA champs.

This is Marvin Clark on Twitter. You have to love this kid......

Obviously no one on this board twitted their views, they were all POSITIVE. I understand it is not easy losing and it hurts after such a tough loss yesterday. We have to stick behind these guys. No matter where my family lived "all" my friends knew how I bled for the Redmen. Just ask Jack Kaiser and Lou Carnesecca and they will tell you.

Mullin did nothing wrong ????????????,
Are you dreaming or watching the game.
I could list at least 10 things he did wrong and does wrong every game....open your eyes.

Name them!

He forgot to tell Ponds to make his free throws.

He forgot to tell Yakwe to make his free throws.

He neglected to mention that it's bad to foul the three point shooter.

Exactly.

Lovett cost us maybe 4 or 5 games this year? He better better not be back next year.

Agree 100%. Losing makes fans grumble and dissonant, but it can demoralize players and coaches. These kids are gritty, the future of the program, and deserve our support. Mullin was our best player ever and bleeds ‘St. John’s’. We know these losses are killing him. He deserves our support also. Thanks Frank.

Agree ?. I'm with mullin. Those were the years that got me hooked.
I'll be there Tuesday

Lovett injury hurt. We'd be 6-2 maybe.
How bad was this knee? Unreal

Up 5 with 24 seconds he forgot to call out a 4 corner offense to kill time (Frank McGuire rolling in grave). Too much free lancing in the offense and no one ever near the basket for rebounds hurts. ........every game. Having 4 of your 5 players positioning themselves outside the arc hurts. Especially when one of them is also Alibegovic. Having no concept of playing zone to protect your thin roster from fouling out hurts.
But as usual you are right. Shamorie Ponds only scored 33 points, had 8 assists more rebounds than Clark and Owens while playing dead tired after 48 minutes. Then near the end of the game, after going 6 of 7 he misses that foul shot!
In the end the buck stops at the player's door.
Everything you mentioned above was true and your game summaries don't need to be 1000 winded words long anymore (although I love the pictorials). Our games can be summarized by two words: SHIT HAPPENS.

Maybe Matt A should take some heat for that ? Many BE teams picked up that big man, 5 th year Player . And , through game 8 , Kanter of Xavier and the 2 big kids on DePaul killed us . Not to mention Govan and Derrecksen on G’town . If you have no Post player in the BE , you will not win . Maybe Matt should be on the Road more scouting possible 5 th year Players , instead of sitting on the Bench during games , where he contributes nothing . Many of us thought Clark was going to be that inside player as a PF. He isn’t a factor inside at all . Strictly perimeter . He is a nice player but, doesn’t meet the needs of the team . He plays like a SG . That’s His style and have to believe the Staff should have known what he brings and what he doesn’t . That isn’t to say he doesn’t contribute but, on a team with all perimeter players , he is just 1 more . We get virtually nothing inside from any of them . That’s a very big reason, without Lovett, why our record says what it is , 0-8.

Agree on Matt should be out recruiting instead of always being at the games especially early season home cupcake games but as the boss it would be up to Mullin to assign him.

Matt has done about as good as you can considering the state of our program and facilities. I was as frustarted as anyone that we didn't add a big, but Matt is not the problem.

Great Monday morning QB comments . Mullin should have done this , Mullin should have done that ... Most here know Yakwe still doesn’t understand the game and it’s nuances . All he knows is to jump high , Miss easy shots and always loses his man on Defense . He missed foul shots badly , after 3 years of Coaching . You think you can fix his game ? Hardly . No one questions Yakwe’s effort but, he is Raw and really hasn’t acquired true B.B. Skills , excepting trying to block every shot . How do you blame Cosches for that or having to rely on Ali in Overtime . Ali and Yakwe in OT was our downfall . Nice kids , just don’t have the gear for Crunch time .
