Georgetown, Sat. Feb. 25, Noon, YES&FOX/570

7 B.E., 13 overall. Real nice improvement over last year.
That's all this year is about, seeing how many more wins we can get over last.
I think we'll beat PC @ MSG. and that's 8 and 14.

I'll say even before knowing who's leaving, who else is coming, and our schedule. If we want improve next year over this, then lets get atleast 5 more wins next year then this year, which would be pretty close to the nit..

Shamorie Ponds is 42 points away from @real_DHarrison7 freshman scoring record. #sjubb
Barring injury (heaven forbid) minimum of 3 games left which means he would have to average 14 points per game. Averaging over 17 so he should get it.

Alibegovic the difference
yeah, stepped up after owens got hurt

Thompson has to be fired. With Alibecovig ,our only so called big man, playing a good part of the game Thompson does not take advantage inside with Govan. All he had to do was bring Peaks, Derrickson or even Pryor down low for easy layups against our smaller guards. Thank you God for having him coach today.

Refreshing to have a team that can shoot free throws. Very nice win. So much tangible improvement over last year and from earlier his year. It is a process and we need to keep acquiring players but it is going the right way.

This sums up my feelings exactly. I read the thread after getting back from the game and it is amazing how negative it is. Everyone makes mistakes but I don't root against any of our players. I hope they all come back and improve. Today, Ali gave us valuable minutes with Owens hurt, and Williams and Yakwe in foul trouble.

Not really. My vote goes to Ponds and Mussini. Am I crazy or is Federico's defense improving? Even penetrating more this year. Granted Alibecovig was needed when our big men came down with injuries and fouls but he had no rebounds and had two passes surprise him and bounce off his chest. Ellison helped with the rebounding playing 34 minutes. Was waiting for Mussini to get back in the game in the second half while we still had Owens and Williams. Kept us in the game in the first half, finishing the game with 16 points. Call me crazy again but we need Ahmed's boards and scoring. Don't know if we survive losing this game. G'town is terrible along with their weak coach.
The bump by Hayes reminded me of John Thompson seniors dirt bag teams.

Two great posts. Almost everyone knew fans had to be patient in year one. The team is just about 500 post November. We have to feel good about it.

You are right but... They pretty much still had their way offensively. It was the turnovers that made the difference. We were pretty much on the ropes at the 12 minute mark in the 1st even though the score was close. We were racking up the fouls and GTn already in the bonus. If they had ground it out they could have done that all day but the turnovers just killed them. So give credit to our defense (in part). Defense was not great overall but in some aspects it was.

Ellison getting killed lately but he did help on defense for good stretches and this is why I think Mullin stuck with him. And hit is FTs when they mattered. Led the team in rebounds with 6. A couple of assists and 0 turnovers (credited)

That's the mussini I think could be very helpful in the future with s deeper lineup. Killer shooter off the bench. I also don't think people give him enough credit for his hustle and effort. He has limitations but is a good pice of the puzzle.

It's interesting that foul shooting is mostly noticed when it sucks.

Fouls also played a key role landing Peak on the bench during most of the second half.

Peak picking up his third foul w minute to go in first half was helpful. GT3 & staff lost track of fact he had just committed his second & did not yank him for remaining minute. He immediately gets nailed w third

Crappy reffing nearly cost us the game. Missed 2 goaltending calls vs. G'town.

I'm not so sure I have ever been as angry during a game and yet so happy after a game !!

Any Win over Georgetown is a GREAT F^cking day !!

Great job guys for gutting this one out !!

and he is only a sophomore and despite his lack of physical ability he puts more effort on D than a lot of our guys the last 10 games

That FIREJT3 sign held up in the second half was awesome! G'town fans have a right to be disgusted. But then again, who cares about their feelings? Happy to get the win over them at MSG.

If Mussini could shoot like that consistently, he'd be a great piece of the puzzle going forward. Still think either him or Ellison transfer next season with Simon coming in, but damn that was some game by him today.
