Georgetown (MSG), Tues. Jan. 9, 6:30p, FS1/570AM

Simply unbelievably frustrating Season. We must’ve passed God off bigtime. She doesn’t like us.
 
G'town stinks. What does that say about us. Right now we are a difficult team to watch. The only two players the Hoyas have were high scorers.
Simon cannot bring the ball up court. Simon should not bring the ball up court. Too many careless passes. Finally, Mullin had Ponds handle the ball at the close of the second half.
Outrebounded again. we don't get offensive rebounds. At one point in the game a shot was put up with Owens standing between the foul line and basket making no attempt to grab an offensive rebound.
Should have led by 20 points in the first half with all the Hoya turnovers. No offensive sets. Isn't it interesting that at the end of the game we start driving to the basket.
Played like a last place team.
 
The stats, as always, tell the story. Crushed on the boards, leading to lots of second chances. Poor shooting, many of which were wide open. Only 2 players had assists. We have had teams that were challenged from the field and 3, but you can make up for that with tenacious D and offensive rebounding. Like SJU when Hatten was a senior. Team is filled with soft players, in part because of body type. Ball movement is embarrassing. Fans may show up with bags over their heads soon, wearing Cleveland Browns jerseys. I'm not throwing in the towel on Mullin. If he can't do much better with a full roster next season, including some bulk for a change, that's a different story.
 
This might be the worst played Big East game that I have ever seen.
Georgetown won because someone had to and they sucked just a little bit less than we did.
My favorite line was when the announcer said that this game set fundamental basketball back 30 years
Back to back home losses to DePaul and Georgetown
Yep, we are (and deserve to be) the doormat of the Big East right now
And we have to play Villanova on Saturday - yippee!!
 
Unfortunately, I have to attend the Duke game with my sister, a Duke alumn. That should be pleasant.

Our so called big men are horrible...Owens does not have a clue when it comes to rebounding. How can u be that big and not get rebounds ??? All he wants to do is shoot 3's and block shots. No clue how to box out and rebound. Yakwe at least tries, but just is not on big east caliber player. Ali has no clue how to play basketball, does not belong on this team.
Is this University ever going to become serious again about this progrsm and recruit big time players ???
The program is in a shambles and becoming worse each year. Embarrassing to watch and call this St. John's basketball














 
They really to consider blowing this up and get Danny Hurley. at the end of this year before someone else steals him.

Clearly Mullin and this staff are not cut out to coach in this league.

Bobby and Oliva should have fired Lavin after year 4 or gave him a contract extension. We would not have been in this terrible situation.

Ewing looks more polished as a coach than Mullin does in his 3rd year this is scary stuff.
