This is not just because of Smith. They came out with no energy. No energy rebounding the ball the way they did against Xavier and Villanova, no energy defensively and they had a 9 minute scoring drought and Georgetown had 10 turnovers that half. Imagine that!! There’s no excuse for the way they came out. Please , no more talk about how we’re an NCAA tournament team, no more talk about us being ranked, no more talk about us being top 3 in this conference on the same level as Marquette and UConn etc. Even if we somehow manage to come back and win this game, this is a flawed team. Something is not right when you can’t even come out and play with energy. Win or lose fine, but the energy and determination has to be there regardless and I don’t see any of it tonight at all. This is not the first time this season either. If you want to be elite the effort , energy and determination has to be there regardless but it’s not always there with this team.
