Georgetown (MSG), Tue., Jan. 14 , 7:30p, PEACOCK

ESPN projection would make us something like a 14 point favorite. I expect a similar game to tonight, grind it out and pull away late. It seems to be who we are.

Hope that with Smith presumably out Wilcher and/or Scott find their offensive mojo. Both had flashes tonight, hopefully will grow from there.

Guessing we'll be about 10.5 point favs.

Georgetown was rolling until they got the tough draw of having to play Marquette and Conn back to back. Now they get us after losing those two games. Do they bounce back or does their slide continue?

Sorber is legit and they have much more talent than last year but we should be able to exploit their turnover woes. Hoping even without Smith we won't have to sweat this one

Sorber is a problem…strong as an ox and so much power off that drop step. Kadary can dig at the ball and Scott and RJ can give him fits up high.

Could run past them overall.

Statistically they are thus far giving up the fewest PPG in the league and have one of the best field goal percentages. Suspect it will be a slog but the team with more talent and more veterans prevails in the end

Yep. They are 141st in adjusted offensive efficiency and 24th in defensive efficiency. They haven't scored 70 or given up 75 in their last 4 Big East games. They'll try to muck it up as much as they can

This is a game we can lose if we sleep walk through it. They're talented.

I just think we'll be too talented and too big for them. I say we win by 7. If we had Smith, 14.

Their point guard Mack is full of talent, but he's too small for this level. I think he's going to get overwhelmed. Sorber is a diaper dandy, as Vitale would say, but he also makes some freshman mistakes. Epps makes me nervous on one hand, but on the other hand, he can also get his whole team out of the game by scoring 30.

Gtown is much improved and Cooley has the program heading in the right direction. But they are still a year away from being a big time team.

This could be close for awhile but we should win comfortably.
Ughhhhh ! But I’ll give you credit you predicted a win tonight and covering the spread but I’d feel much better if you said we don’t stand a chance

I think that beating the Hoyas without Smith will be a monumental task especially if Epps plays. He and Mack form a formidable back court that will create problems for a depleted back court. And while Wilcher had some shining moments of play after a very rough game, it has become obvious that with Smith out we really have no back court depth.

Their front court of 6’11 Fielder and Sorber are also quite formidable and will test our interior rebounding and overall play.

Remember, this is a very competitive Georgetown team that blew out Creighton and took Marquette to the wire and while I believe we should be able to grind out yet another win, it will be no easy task.

Of course we can lose, but as Rick said this is a driven, motivated group, playing at home. Last night Poplar was perfect example of NIL/Transfer “man” w experience and strength who really caused us problems w/o very physical Smith.

GT is built around some very talented young kids with some transfer help, but I just don’t think they will be able to handle our “bully ball” approach inclusive of incredible offensive rebounding. The latter changes the “possession”, second chances game in our favor thankfully. I’ll go with a close game, but expect their less physical group to fade late. Sure we can come out flat after this monster Nova win, but I sense these guys are on a mission and in the “zone” so to speak.

I live in DC and went to the Gtown/Uconn game yesterday. If Devion is out for the game Tuesday night, it's going to be challenging walking away with the win. Not only will we be missing a key engine/component of the team, but we will be lacking in real depth -- which is a big part of what makes this year's team so dangerous, i.e., having 6 starter-quality players for 5 positions. Basically, Kadary and RJ are going to have to put the team on their backs to grind-out a victory. I think they'll do so, but it's going to be a close game. Go Johnnies!!!
