Just as an aside, several posters were really distraught when Jordan Riley picked G'town over St John's
Watching him play yesterday, I thought that he wasn't nearly as impressive as I would have expected him to be
While it's nice to keep local talent home, he was no great loss IMO

Yes he is but considering he is one of the only, other then Curbelo, 4 star players on the team he should look like a stud. Too bad it took Anderson half a season to figure that out as Storr barely played in OOC cupcake games and was buried behind other players of far less ability.
Plenty of four stars do not play like studs in college, particularly in their freshman year.

This is true, especially in the Big East. You have top 100 4 star freshman recruits like Denver Anglin (Georgetown), Zion Cruz (Depaul) and Kam Craft (Xavier) who are all playing 11 mpg or less and averaging 3 ppg or less. All, like Storr, were ranked somewhere between 50-90 in ESPN top 100 for 2022.
Even highly touted frosh like Donovan Clingan of UCONN & Mark Armstrong of Nova are playing under 20 mpg and averaging less than 10 ppg. Cam Whitmore an exception, but he was top 25 recruit.

Its def a weird time right now. I feel like its a lot harder now for freshmen to break through when at any moment during the offseason some 24 year old man with covid exception eligibility can just pick up and transfer to your team haha. Not saying that happened at any of these schools but its just a weird time.

Exactly, it’s a mixed bag. Even if they win a few more games, one or two they are not supposed to win, Cragg and Shanley may look for any excuse to keep him on tourney bound or not. While I never want the team to lose, ask yourself this, …..If Anderson squeaks by and is allowed to stay, do you really believe things will get better next year or in years to come? It’s been the same crap with this staff year in and year out.
I believe that we will always be mired in mediocrity(or worse) with this staff. But I've been saying all along, Cragg and Shanley are looking for any excuse to keep CMA, so yes it is a mixed bag.

I'll add about the Big East compared to other power conference schools who tend to get a lot of one and dones. The Big East typically tends to attract 4 year college types so the league as a whole typically seems to trend towards older teams. Seems especially true with the newest transfer rules. So makes it harder for freshman to step in immediately.

I was hoping Theo John would have landed somewhere this season .

Was at the game today and I like the way Ghostzapper summed it up.....it was not a well played game, but definitely a fun atmosphere and it was nice to come away with the win.

A few thoughts.....

Curbelo is a problem and I really can't understand why he is left out there

Why so few minutes for Stanley in the second half? Wusu kept getting stuck down low with Wahab and GT was killing us with second chance shots.

Primo Spears is a very good player. Sweet pull up jumper.

Georgetown is a really bad team

David Jones could have been helpful this year if he was shown his proper role.

Not saying Kolby King is the answer, but he probably hurts us a lot less than Curbelo.
That's the thing with King/Curbelo. Mike sees King as not doing a lot to push us forward, but we fans see it as not hurting us with the dumb plays that cancel our what he does to push us forward.

The announcers yesterday said that CMA said that Curbelo's play makes him crazy but he likes his aggressiveness. WTF??? I know of a lot of aggressive players that don't do the stupid things that Curbelo does. I guess it's a love/hate relationship just like it is on this site.

Curbelo is probably the most perplexing player that I have seen in a long time. To paraphrase Forest Gump, Curbelo is like a box of chocaletes, you never know what you are going to get. Yesterday, he came through towards the end of the game, he made the plays that helped us win. Saving the ball from going out of bounds and then making a nice move and oass to Jones, who got fouled and made the free throws. The drive into the paint and pass to Storr for the game winner was nice to see. The hustle by him to knock the ball out of bound with 1.4 seconds left was also a nice play. I don't think we win yesterday's game if King had been playing instead of Curbelo at the end.

And that’s why I said weeks ago that with Curbelo, you have to take the bad with the good. Still don’t like his mover all game. I think there’s more bad than good with him. For every great pass or shot he makes, seems like he makes two stupid passes or shots.

I hear you Panther and agree with you, but if Curbelo plays under control all game then we're not in a nail biter at the end. We win going away. Just sayin'.

Yes. I did watch the game again last night. In addition to your points, Curbelo also set-up Soriano three times in the 2nd half on quality pick & roll passes. Joel was a little off on the free throw line, but Curbelo was still making it happen.

I'm not sure it's in his DNA to play a controlled game.
He is very talented but likes to flash his style at the team's expense. I picture his official FB profile as a guy dressed in a Zoot Suit leaning on a low rider car on Hollywood boulevard.

Plus a great drive and kick for Wusu corner three when we were down close to 10 and starting to fade away.

WFAN made mention of our game yesterday but they had the game winning shot being made by AJ Storrs. Oh well nice to at least get a mention.

One thing is even with Posh out yesterday Wusu was used as the one most possessions. Clearly the staff is trying to limit Curbelos touches now, of course his game does not translate very well at the two. He played well the last ten minutes and that (same goes with Jones) was enough against Georgetown.

Overall roster construction as opposed to just adding any good player who wants to join a program showed out too. Wusu had a good game from the perimeter and Georgetown had to respect that. Storr can shoot and played 35 minutes. All of a sudden with two (which isn’t even optimal - give me three) viable outside threats being guarded Jones drives to the basket become points not turnovers as there was room to maneuver.
