Georgetown- Game 2

I'll be there as I always am, section 8. It's funny how some of us probably pass eachother by during games at Carnessca/MSG not even knowing that it could be a fellow poster.

At some of the games the crowd is small enough that I think it might just be redmen.comers. :p

@NYPost_Brazille: Asked D'Angelo Harrison about injured calves. "I'm good." Same answer every time by #sjubb gritty senior. Never offers any excuses.

Just like a leader should be.
A page out of Derek Jeter's book.

Truly one of the best to ever wear this uniform. He, Pointer, seniors really do deserve to experience the tourney.

Is there any reason to think he'd be worse off than last game? Anything bad happen at practice? I'd have to look at the stat sheet again but I think he's been good (though not incredible) the last couple games. CO also.

In a game like the Duke game he was clearly hurting.

No inside info, just surmising based upon his ability to play through but clearly being hampered at times, is that these are fatigue injuries. Those are on and off, up and down. Some days are good and some aren't. More importantly, they are fragile and can get set off, not likely to calm down until there is a few days of rest. There seem to have been games where he lands the wrong way or someone falls on top of him and he has a tough time bouncing back.

Hopefully after his longest rest in a while he's feeling as good as he has in a while.

The team hasn't practiced the last two days so I would guess they are improving a little bit

@NYPost_Brazille: Shared some iS8 memories with #sjubb seniors today. Pointer and Harrison played there spring before freshmen seasons. Dom's team won it all

@NYPost_Brazille: Pointer's fondest memory of iS8? Dunking on JaKarr Sampson. #Sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: D'Angelo Harrison nearly got into a fight with Jabril Trawick after one game at iS8. They had to be separated #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Harrison basically said the rivalry between them and Georgetown began there, at iS8. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: I'd suggest #sjubb fans watch today's availability online when it comes out. Great stuff about bond between Harrison, Pointer and Greene.

I have no respect for St John's especially under Lavin. Very streaky and very disorganized. Inevitably, when things get tight they revert to playground. I want us to beat them just so they don't wind up representing the BE in the NCAA tourney.

Defend our second home court, MSG!

I think our B+ or B games would be enough, but it's time to show the A game and then remember to play that same A game at MSG for the tourney!

Okay, I hate St. John's more than I love the BE. I just hate to see a team with so much talent yet so little idea of how to play the game be rewarded with an NCAA tourney berth. The Duke game is the perfect example of why I hate them and why they don't deserve to be in the tourney. A complete meltdown in the last 10 minutes. They blew a chance to promote the BE and prove they are legit. Unless they win out (including beating us of course) and go to the BE final they don't deserve a shot at a national title and I hope the tourney selection committee recognizes this. Remember this team lost to Creighton and DePaul.
wow...a lot of ccomments from hoya fans with an over inflated sense of their own success...they havent been special in a while...a for msg being 2nd home -- please! they dont travel that well
They have a lot of Alumni in NYC.

agree but bunch of lightweight yuppies...

Only fight I ever had as an adult was with one of those yuppies. He was a heavyweight lightweight, though. :)

I knocked him down, he got caught half on the floor & on the seats.. as he tried to get up, I kept pushing him down.. security came & the two girls (Johnnie fans!!) he'd been harassing were all over defending me & security threw him out. lol Only good thing that happened that game. It was Mullin's soph year and they kicked our asses all over the court.

The drinking age was raised to 19 in NYS in 1982, and then to 21 in 1985. Most of the fights that occur at MSG are fueled by alcohol. Drunks taunting the wrong person, often the drunk wrong person has led to many brawls. With the drinking age at 21, most student fans aren't drinking at games, and that's a good thing. To my recollection we've never had an altercation come to blows at alcohol-free CA.

Bob Barker - the second announcer here - for those not back in the " early days" when we young boys watched game shows (Beat the Clock, To Tell the Truth, Concentrstion etc.) and westerns (Wagon Train, Maverick, Have Gun Will Travel etc.)
Enjoyable posts on this topic; was at the game 1985 when, after we beat Gtown down there, they rocked us at the garden!
Wow lets get a "W" / and since I missed the first game, anyone wanting to fill me in on what we have to do to win please do - thanks!!

Hey Bama from last nights posts, it's 6:15 ish I'm at office checking this site while you're still sleeping!!!

All the best.

Georgetown fans have plenty to hang over our heads. But any discussion of "representation of the conference" in the tournament coming from them is nothing short of laughable given their own recent history.

Since the Final Four in ‘07, they have lost to two 10s, an 11, a 13, and a 15 seed in the NCAA tournament!

Of the high-majors that make the tourney consistently, they are probably the biggest joke out there right now. In light of the fact that they likely have the second best pedigree in the conference after Nova, their tourney meltdowns are not exactly helping the conference's reputation.
