Georgetown- Game 2

Would be nice if someone could link Ricky Nelson's Garden Party song on this thread.

Best game ever.

I was so happy to be at the garden today. Georgetown fans sat right behind me and were making some noise early. I turned around mid second half when we were beating their ass and all of them in the row were on their phones paying no attention to the game lol.

Way to tune those guys up. Great win.

The Hoya fans in the row in front of me were too busy on their phones as well.

Great win once again on international television. It has been a great run for the team as of late for the world to see, Providence, Xavier , Georgetown, just fantastic for recruiting and we are involved with a bunch of high level talent outside of the United States.
Lavin deserves a ton of credit for this superb run.
At the end of last year , or even two months ago , if you said we would beat Georgetown with Harrison being a non factor , Pointer playing like an All American , Greene like an All Big East player with Branch being a major contributor off the bench you would have been accused of smoking crack.
Just a great job by Lavin getting everyone to play up to their potential.
Keep it going guys there is still more ball to be played and we are all loving it.

I haven't read any comments on this thread yet but look forward to in a few minutes.

Couple of observations. Excellent crowd. had to be over 15 k. Section 114 was packed. I'd say 75% redmen fans.

Great to see Mkras and his lovely wife at the game

Felt real good to have this win with the 114 crew and even one of our old crew Al Cicilia who sat right behind us. Definitely we were missing Kranmars though. He has suffered so much with us in the bad times kind of sucked not having him with us today

On to the game and sorry mods for cursing but " WHAT A FUCKING GAME " !!!!! I hate gtown almost as much as Duke. F them. DLO 2 fouls in 35 seconds ? come on ref with the dar hair you dick. Don't know if it's true but one of the guys said that was the guy that called the T on DLO a few games ago for shooting the ball after time stoppage. Don't know if its true but either way I don't care.

Such resilience. This team today is so fun to watch !!!! Whereever they go in the post season I'm all in. Don't care what the airfare is going to cost. Damn these kids deserve good things

Just got home. Happy, proud of kids & kudos for Lavin for getting team on track for the Dance.

Agree, Paultz. My wife and I just got on the train. Hung out in the city for a bite to eat with our son, who came to the game with me.

These guys just made me feel so proud. And I have to admit, I shed a tear or two during the Senior Day festivities. And I thought it was real classy of DLo, considering his circumstances, to come out with his fellow seniors. They will be missed.

I thought D'Lo coming out with his fellow seniors was a touching moment. Everyone had plenty of family with them to celebrate and he was by himself. Really puts into perspective how much he's overcome and that he's made it.

Just got home from the game, and I am still on cloud 9! Was a lot of fun reading all the posts.

Now, let's take care of business at Marquette.

It was the same ref who called the tech on D'Lo. He alos reffed the Marquette game. I saw him in Penn Station after that game waiting for a train, he's one of the worst refs on the circuit.

that guy doesn't deserve to have a job. Makes me like Burr

Just got home, I tried only to post positive things over the past few days, but this was a classic game for the Johnnies where I'd come home disappointed and dejected. I even erased a post this morning where I said this game could exorcise some old Georgetown demons, because I thought invoking them would bring us bad karma.

These guys today were awesome. Six man rotation, and Dlo gets lost for the half after just two possessions by Georgetown. Still our guys fight for a double digit first half lead. Then Obekpa gets into foul trouble. Then Dlo again in foul trouble. Then Branch is lost for the game. Throw in the fact that Lavin decided that the athletic, physical Hoyas were not the game for Amar.

All reasons for the team to fold. Lavin rings up Felix, and Felix is tough on defense and doesn't make mistakes on offense. The kid, limited as he may be, is fearless.

What can you say about PG4 and SirDominant? They carried us home today, and Jordan gets a supporting Oscar. Branch was magnificent as a fill in for Harrison.

If there is any doubt that Harrison is the leader of this team, watch a late timeout after Felix grabbed a key rebound late. He was in Felix face, thumping him on the chest to tell him what a big rebound it was. A couple minutes later, Harrison blocked a big shot and screamed to himself knowing he had contributed on a big possession on a day that wasn't his.

Awesome, awesome game.

Oh yea, and thanks to Greg Bodkin, as diehard a Johnny fan as there is. He met my kid, and said some really nice things to him. Great guy, and being around guys like that makes be proud to be an alum.

@DickieV: Teams that star today / Dayton - Villanova - KENTUCKY -St John's - Wichita St

What a win!

Phil Greene wanted it and stepped up. Played out his mind.

We did what we had to do.

Clinched at worst .500 in conference.

Huge day for the team.

We need that the rest of the way from Phil, DLo, Dom, and a 3-point threat in Phil, and even if defenses try to clamp down on those 3, then you got Rysheed who can go off on any night.

Need a win Wednesday night.
What's your prognosis:
1.Would we get in the tourney with no other "W"?
2.what do we need to do in the next games?
3. Any chance versus V?

1. Don't know, but why chance it? I want another win.
2. Hustle, score, and rebound.
3. Why not? But if we win wednesday, then sit DLo and Chris. The game at Villanova would mean nothing.

Disagree on number 3. This is not Major League Baseball where your pitchers rule. You don't turn it off in this sport. You beat nova any chance you get. A win down there gives us a seed we desperately need. Seeding in the NCAA is key.

A win against them in the B.E. Tournament and SJU rocking MSG on the Saturday by bringing it home, going out with a win at msg is what i want. That will help our seeding.
If we win Wednesday then at Nova is a meaningless game. Get Chris and DLo healthy.
