Georgetown 1st Game

Never thought I'd say this but if Phil Greene is shooting well, we have a chance.

He has been our zone buster and we should see a heavy dose of it.

I think he's the X-factor.

I'd put Joey on Joshua and Obekpa on Hopkins at trhe start.
Have him hack Joshua maybe even for the first 8minutes. Joey with his body can lean in him and give him some hard fouls. Then maybe put Amar on him for more hard fouls.
On offense run run run, he can't keep up, though he'll try.

Maybe in the last 8minutes he'll be exhausted then you put CO on him.

Occasionally, feed the post (Obekpa), as well. Josh Smith will probably only play about 20-23 minutes, and we may can decrease those numbers, if we give Obekpa the ball a few times on the blocks. Smith likes to reach, and usually, will pick up about two cheap fouls in the process.

I like the idea of getting the ball inside to CO to draw some fouls. In general, I think that we should feed him more.

But I think on D you have to double Josh Smith early, as in anticipate the entry pass. it almost doesn't matter who his main matchup is to some extent.
His initial position can't be on the low block or we're f&cked. Make him establish position further out, and trap him towards the baseline.

If he is going to block shots, rebound and defend, he should get the ball every once in awhile, but I would not make that part of the game plan. We are going to win and lose with the three guards and Dom.

I mispoke, I don't really want to "feed" the ball to Obekpa intentionally.
But if the oppertunity is there, we can't continue to ignore it.
The last few games I've noticed he's wide open coming off his picks
and our ballhandlers aren't even looking for him. That irks me.

If he's wide open.. lob city. They need to at least think about throwing the ball back to the big man.

Pretty sure Felix will get the start until we lose, so hopefully we don't dig too big a whole
Your probably right. But Smith will score at will against Felix. Better off w Amar on him.

Would probably take more than one sitting but yes I do think Smith coud probably eat Felix

I've said it before.. Smith is not the big problem. Smith-Rivera is the key. If he roams free and scores, everything opens up inside. Contain him & I think we win.

I posted stats at the beginning of this thread for Josh Smith over the past 5 games. He's not the huge threat some are building him up to be. I think we're in more trouble if we double him and leave shooters open, since he's a good passer out of the post.

We are better than Gtown IMO. Whether or not that translates to a victory remains to be seen

Minor suggestion - Don't get baited by Trawick's chippy play.

key is rebounding if we do we can run Josh can't Run Run Run
Think Amar needs more time in this game and let him shoot
