Georgetown 1st Game

We also destroyed them at home later in the season. We'll be dogs but not by too much.

If we can effectively limit the presence and effectiveness of Josh Smith down low and deny him the ball we have a great chance to win this game the way this team is playing and the way they battle.

If we get this one, we'll be 7-6 with 3 straight at home. If they go 2-1 there, then we"ll be 9-7 and split at Marq, and nova. That's 10-8

Gotta keep putting the work in.

We definitely need Obekpa for this one. Balamou won't do against the likes of burly Smith and Hopkins. Got to front Smith, deadly in low. Hopkins not an offensive worry. Sir Dom will handle him.
Their freshmen have improved, especially Issac Copeland who has been knocking down threes. Let's face it frosh shouldn't scare our experienced and confident players. We can take them but have to stop Smith - Rivera and Smith.

Before the Xavier game I was thinking we needed to go 1-1 on this road stretch. 2-0 would be incredible.

Last week when I said thought we'd sweep Xavier, you told me to stop looking ahead and worry about just the Depaul game.

Now you are predicting the rest of our season . Oh, sweet irony.

lol Forgive me?

So far we just have not had an answer to the Josh Smith problem. I hope LAvin and co are watching a lot of game tapes of teams that have beaten Georgetown. We just might not have the personnel to deal with him. If Lavin can construct a winning game strategy that gets us out quickly in transition to create 5 on 4's, perhaps Smith can be negated.

I hope Lavin does not start this same lineup. If he does it'll be like the start of today's game, down 9 before we know it. If he wants to continue using Obekpa off the bench due to that elbow incident, he needs to start Alibegovic of JDR instead of Balamou.

All transition, all the time.

Guard the baseline and the backdoor cut.

Guard the foul line area and the three point line.

Piece of cake!

When it mattered we took Stainbrook out of the game - by denying him the ball and running 'till he had to sit down. Smith presents exactly the same issues. Problem is, we won't dominate their guards the way we did Xavier's. Smith-Rivera's a beast and is my biggest concern.

Interesting that Xavier didn't just beat G'town twice, they whacked 'em.

Smith is about 75 lbs more than Stainbrook.

Joey leaning on him for 2 minutes and he had to come out and suck wind. Could not take the running the other 38 minutes (lol). Great team effort. Get Joey some burgers.

Announcer on the Nova vs. Butler game just said "St. John's finds a way into the Tournament with their talent". I hope so! Big Dog says "Yes!"

Honestly, I get why you're afraid of Josh Smith, but let's not get crazy.

In his past 5 games, he's averaging under 20 min, about 6.5 points and about 4 rebounds a game. He's fouled out of 2 of those games.

That was Jon Rothstein on the halftime report I believe.
