Game Thread -- SJU vs. Charleston

Agreed on our offense being average (or even slightly below average).

Good road win nonetheless with a young team. Virtually wire to wire.

Really hope we can get those other recruits eligible to fill those voids on offense, our defense on the other hand is solid. Very disciplined, just need to work on rebounding better as others have said.

Good win on the road against the host team.
We are 2-0 and saw improvement from JS and CJ, which is what we desperately needed.
We are on the right track.
If we can win 2 this weekend it is very good , it we can win 3 it would be outstanding.
3 sophomores and two freshmen starting, no upper classmen, cant really ask for more at this point.

Hahaha...thanks for the confirmation that no matter how many times I'm correct, I won't get the credit. I was the only one in the entire forum saying UConn would be way better than you guys were letting on, and also the only one saying we would win by 10+ vs. Charleston. Funny part is if anyone else predicted those 2 things, they would get respect on here.

So guys, they really took it to us huh? Do I get any credit predicting a 10-15 point win? Even a morsel?

Not even a morsel.

Says the guy who was shaking in his boots before the game because of "big bad Charleston". Their "stud" scored 7 points and we held them to 37% FG. They are bad.

Haha! Great job Joe! Just got back to hotel. GREAT road win! Awesome to see great interior defense! Jakarr looks out of place in half court but love his energy around basket! Offense was all Harrison to be expected during late 2nd half...
So pumped to see our boys get after it! Obekpa such a difference maker. Off to MacIntosh for dinner to celebrate!!

They looked good for 2nd game w very young team. Samson did a great job w rebounding and had 2 blocks. Jones had a better rebounding game, looks excellent for an unheralded recruit. Fun team to watch. We can make some noise if the 2 get cleared and we will have a true PG w Branch and more backcourt depyh. Nice W.Amir is impressing me. Dom has been dissapointing on offense/ Liked the teams D.

Joe3 many of us have been posting together for a decade or longer so respect is something that will have to be earned over a period of time.
Best of luck in your quest for respect.

Are you the kind of guy that expects people to pat you on the back for being able to wipe your own @ss?

You made two very broad predictions:

UConn is better than we were expecting. How do you even measure that? If I said that I was expecting them to lose by 30, but they only lost by 29, does that mean that they are better than I expected?

And the other prediction of us winning by 10+. That is still a fairly broad statement. We have more talent and athleticism than them. I fully expected them to win by 10+.

If you are so good and precise on all of your predictions....I strongly suggest that you take your talents to Vegas and start earning some money.....

I don't ask to be friends with anyone. Everyone thought Charleston was this beast that was going to beat us. I laughed and said they were overreacting because we are better. I was laughed at. I said we'd win by 10+ and I was told I was crazy. We won by 11. It's up to you if you don't want to admit I was right. Not many people want to because it hurts. Anyway, nice win...I wasn't scared of Charleston and they are not good. People on here need to stop making mid majors out to be these scary monsters unless they are Murray St, Detroit, Gonzaga, etc.. If we play Murray St. I don't like our chances. Hopefully people realize now that we are supposed to beat the teams like Charleston.

Joey, I don't wanna see you get shut out. I give you credit and respect. Oh by the way, it says expert boarder next to your name. Ain't that credit?

Hahaha...oh brother. Where do I start? 1) UConn is nationally ranked. They already beat Michigan St. and have proven they are not bad. People on here said DePaul would be better. That is a joke. 2) Winning by 10+ is not a broad statement at all. Especially in a game many considered to be very, very close. 11 points is a pretty convincing win. I said I can see that happening and people thought I was nuts. Usually if someone makes an unpopular set of predictions among a group of people and they turn out to be right, people will say "Gotta hand it to ya", "Surprised, but you were right", etc. Cowards say "Noo! Damned if you do, damned if you don't!". Watch...the first time I make a bad prediction people will be all over me saying how stupid I am. But when I'm right it's kept hush hush. It's ridiculous, but pretty funny at the same time. GO JOHNNIES!

Thank you sir. That took a ton of courage...almost like joining blacks in civil rights marches back in the day as a white person. Much appreciated!

Actually, Joe3, no one thought Charleston was a beast. They thought Charleston would be a formidable opponent, and considering it was a home game for C of C, then we would have our hands full. I thought we would beat them (said it Tuesday, and another time in the 'Charleston Classic' thread), but I wasn't sure by how much.

You were correct in predicting we would beat them by double-digits. Kudos!

By the way, it's your prerogative that you're not on here to make friends. I wasn't exactly on here to make friends, but my intent wasn't to alienate anyone, either. I acted like myself (as, I'm guessing you're doing the same), and eventually I've made some friendships on here. I'll be heading to Charleston tomorrow to watch the game and hang out with a few of 'em, as well.

I'm suggesting you change your approach, as you're only NOT making friends here, but you're alienating yourself due to your behavior. There have been some things you've stated on here that has merit and makes sense. I've found myself agreeing with you a time or two. OTOH, your negatives are certainly outweighing your positives.

Whether, you're not listening; twisting discussions; being obnoxious; arrogant; ignorant; annoying; or naive.... You're not doing yourself any favors on this board. I think you are very capable of adding to the board (as, you've shown a few times), but hopefully you can tone down your act.

Who was shaking in their boots? I was simply treating the opponent like I treat my fellow posters, with respect. You are unable to do either. They're a good mid major and as you're quick to point out that's not a high major, but the defense got in their head early. The athletes won out.

Given the short amount of time he's been posting here all that means is he's been spamming the boards quite proficiently.

You also said we would beat Sonoma State by 50. Let it go already.

You've added nothing to the thread and I don't even think you even watched the game. You're trolling heavy right now.

Anyway, I'm glad to see our Sophs playing with so much confidence and our Frosh getting their feet wet. Jakarr is still pressing on offense. But the sign of a talented player is to do other things when your game is off and I like the fact that he's boarding, blocking shots and playing good defense. The staff have to stay on him not to hang his head when he makes a mistake.

I like the fact that when he got defensive rebounds, he brought the ball up court. He needs to get touches and feel involved.

He'll come around.
