Francessa says

I agree 100% with your post. My point wasn't so much that he didn't play the game as much as if he speaks as if he has a higher knowledge of the game than the caller, when in fact he's just a spectator like the rest of us. As bad as the Mets are, they have a great broadcasting team. Darling and Hernandez know the game extremely well and their knowledge and knowledge and honest critiques are worthy of a college level course in baseball. Both appreciate and know the history of the game. On the non-athlete side Gary Cohen and Howie Rose in particular are extremely knowledgeable and I love listening to them. Both Rose and Cohen possess knowledge worthy of respect without either being condescending in the manner Francessa is.

Personally, I'm hoping Fox1 can nab Cohen for our Big East games. He currently does Seton Hall correct?

Interesting suggestion. That'd be a terrific choice. I'm not sure if SNY would let him do that though.

So Francesa interviews a doctor who never physically examined Alex Rodriguez but saw his MRI and said he was fine to play. And Mike says all day that the Yankees should play ARod because of it.

I can't wait for the backtrack.

Put him on the field already, enough Bs. He is better than what they have out there. Cashman is letting his hatred for Arod get in the way of the Yanks possibly winning some games.

The Yankees are waiting for the hammer to fall so they can collect the insurance on the contract.

He is going to appeal any suspension anyhow. No reason for the Yanks to hold him out, from a fan standpoint he needs to be on the field. Who cares that the Yanks have to pay him, they signed him to a bad contract that's their fault.

correct and the insurance company surely is not going to just ante up with a settlement.
I can't stand the Yankee's getting chintzy.

It's amazing Cruz gets hurt, Arod says he is ready to go- and they bring up Davis ? If he is not in the line up tomorrow night it may come to the point that we will never see him again

I have a sneaky suspicion that even if the Surgeon General clears him medically we may never see him again.

He is not a likable guy agreed, but they could use him

That depends on which "him" they are getting. If they get the juiced A-Rod then it could benefit them, but if it's the non-juiced A-Rod, why bother LOL.

I would trade ARoid for Braun if I had the chance. That's how much I dislike him.

So would everybody else not from Milwaukee

At this point, I would trade both of them for Ken Caminiti.

Unfortunately I went to a show in Richmond, VA several years ago. One autograph I thought I wanted was Alex Rodriquez. As I handed the baseball to one of his assistants I asked Alex, " Could you please add your number to the baseball?" Lo and behold, he rolled the baseball back to me as his assistant claimed he only signs his name. I looked at Rodriquez and said, " Can't he talk?" Never looked up once. Creep, creep and loser.

About 20 years ago I was at a baseball card show at Hofstra. Tom Seaver was one of the headliners, signing autographs for about $40-50. The guy in front of me asked, "Mr. Seaver, could you please sign your name plus 306 wins?" Without saying a word, that is what he signed. A young blonde, who I believe was his daughter, asked him as the guy departed, "But didn't you have 311 wins?" Seaver half grinned, and said, "Yea, but he asked for 306" It was smart ass, because the guy obviously made an error, but instead of correcting him, Seaver was content to ruin the prized ball, on request. I then tried to chat him, telling him that when I was 13-15, he was my baseball hero as a Mets fan. He looked up, and gave me a look that said "Are you an idiot?" Not a nice guy. On the other hand, in the past, when I've met Berra and Rizzuto, and a number of other guys, they couldn't have been nicer.

Never met him but not surprised by your account. Seaver seems like a stiff whenever I heard him talk or saw him on TV

Not sure you ever got the chance to meet him Beast, but my dad did some business with Elston Howard way back when and said he was the nicest guy you could ever meet. I have his autograph and a nice note from him somewhere in my parents' basement.
