Fordham, Wed. Dec. 2, (TV TBD), 570 AM

Honestly Fordham has been a doormat forever. I don't blame them for not pulling starters. It's on us to make the game closer

If you don't like it just play harder and smarter and kick their ass next year

Totally disagree even if you were a doormat for 15 yrs with a 20 pt lead to call a time out and leave your starts in is bush and you will reap what you sew

Mullin said something to their coach during the handshake.
Hopefully we find out tomorrow.
I noticed that also, their coach had a puzzled look afterwards. A few minutes earlier, Mullin was complaining to the ref about him, maybe being out of the coaching box. As for post-game, he may have been mad about the T/O Fordham called after they went up by 19 with about a minute to go. But I'm just guessing.

Yes, Chris called him a "f***ing a*****e" and told him that "we will kick your ass next year." This was at the handshake.

GOOD FOR COACH

After reading about it sounds like mullin overreacted honestly. Looking at fordhams board, it is pretty funny to see how delusional they are. They beat us good for them, but they do realize we have a very weak team this year right? They are acting like they beat Goliath over on their site.

I am with Maher. I am firmly in the Mullin gets lifetime pass club, but from time to time I am going to disagree with him. This is one of those times. You put that away and use it for the future. Bitching about it after the game is in there with there is no crying in baseball category. He is still new at this and will learn.

i disagree. I think it was the first time ( so far ) Mullin was Coach Mullin, and not trying to be Louie. Good teams that respect eachother and its programs play in a respectful way with sportsmanship. Leaving your starters in till the end, AND tossing up three pointers with under a minute to go up by 20+ is NOT good sportsmanship. I for one applaud COACH Mullin on the fire. St Jean has been vocal, but I like Mullin being vocal, especially when he is right. Same concerpt with manager in baseball getting thrown out of games, it fires up team. Lets see if this carries some fuel. The defense has been horrible! Johnson is so slow getting back to his man, and there ALWAYS seems to be a man wide open for a three when all our players are bunched together. Also we need to crash offensive boards more. On a positive- we are lacking a true point, and next year we have two complete studs coming in. Problem solved and Moose will be draining threes next year. Yakwe is pure and simple a future stud. Love that Mully gave him mins last night, he needs to be out there. Also a wake up for Sima on what to expect during BE play...need to be physical! Balamou looked good again. Jones played well but is limited in his skill. What the hell is going on with Williams ? need updates.....we also are missing Ellison, a big body who can handle the rock. Although this will be a rough season, we are gonna learn ALOT about these kids. Mully needs to feel more comfortable coaching like himself and teach these kids some DEFENSE!

Lol. I like Chris, and think the program will eventually prosper, but I am allowed to question him. No one here had anything bad to say when we obliterated them by 46 points, come on now, take CM's jock strap away from your nose and grab some fresh air.

wow, i state my opinion about how i thought the game should be played ( ask me when SJU does it and ill say the same ) and you insult me. Ill refrain from insulting you in return but im sure you have a sense of my response.

Considering he was the face of the university and led team to Final Four I would have to think that his jockstrap is retired somewhere. At least the 1985 one anyway. Man the stories that jock strap could tell.

Post game hand shakes are more trouble than anything else. I'm surprised they are not the cause of more fights.

And they have caused many uneccesary fights at least at the high school level

I give Mullin credit for not faking it. He knows exactly what he's doing

Dec. 1992: St. John's loses at Rose Hill and goes on to have the most improbable season in the program's history, 2nd place in the Big East, 2nd rd of NCAAs.

Dec. 2010: St. John's loses at Rose Hill and goes on to have one of the most storybook regular seasons in the program's history beating four Top 10 ranked teams.

So I don't get what all of you are moaning about.

Mullin overreacted. Period. There is no question that if he could have cut the lead to 8 in the last few minutes he would have and claimed at least some satisfaction in his team not giving up. That Fordham played the entire 40 minutes the way our guys did in a loss to Indiana is okay with me.

Mullin is still learning, and I appreciate that what made him great is that he hated to lose. When he was a kid, that fire was never visible outwardly. As a new coach, not sure he should be telling anyone how to coach, unless the intent was to embarrass St. John's. I don't think many of us thought that to be the case, and maybe - just maybe - Mullin was reacting to St. Jean (another kid) getting bent out of shape by the timeout.

Game over. Not a horrible event, and not a horrible reaction by Mullin. We move on.

Dec. 2015: St Johns loses at Rose Hill and and continues transition year into what will hopefully be a successful 16-17 season.

my thoughts from last night.

1. Fordham's chants of "safety school" and "overrated" were amusing. Safety School was probobly chosen because "minority/immigrant/1st generation college students" wouldn't have been pc. Also who rates us? how are we overrated?

2. Aside from felix we can't finish near the hoop, when he is posting up and thats our most effective offense, thats not a good look.

3. let them run up the score, thats fine, it will be repayed, that said the timeout still seems odd.

4. I'd like to blame the off shooting on small gym syndrome but we played in similar gyms in hawaii so they should have been used to it by now.

5. I can't wait to go back up to rose hill in a few years with a squad and put up triple digits on these guys.

For me I can't wait to go up there in a few years where this is another meaningless non-conf game that you don't get too excited about winning.

I get that, but the localness of these games is always gonna excite me at least for away games like this.

What is the deal with this series. Is it now on campus sites on rotation? Are we officially going back there again. I would tell them we are not playing in that gym, we will play them in Barclays. No reason for us to go there at all.

Unless we are playing them at halftime of Knicks / Nets, don't think Barclay's makes $ense for SJU vs Fordham

I enjoyed you post Cappy!
And as has often been repeated often since April - by optimistic posters who are also realistic - WsLs do not matter this year. Not at all. Our future is beyond bright...the most ardent detractor need only turn the oil lamp on, lighten up the room, sit back on the rocking chair, use the spittoon, and daydream about the staff, the recruiters, the lure of SJU, the Garden, the millions in the NYC area who will forever be grateful for their stars (e.g. Chris, Mark J, Malik Sealy among others)

all the best

And Calhoun took special pleasure in kicking the shit out of Saint John's for the next 30 years, which he did on a regular basis.

Timing being everything, but Louie was 11-4 against Calhoun
