Fordham, Thur. Dec. 8, 6:30pm, FS1/570AM

Ponds and RF should swap jersey numbers. What a sweet stroke!

Nice win! Esp after last year. Wack that fordham player kept on trying dunk it with less than a minute. Rejected everytime.

Lets go Redmen!!!

Ponds: 9-13, 7-11 from 3, 7boards, 9dimes, 4stls, 26pnts
Damnnnn kid.

Payback is real f'ing sweet huh. 3-0 in December.
On to LIU on Sunday, I want to go o Cuse undefeated in December.

Ball movement was superb.

Ponds obviously had a great night, as did Mussini.

Lots of contributors.

Mullin was in charge and animated end to end, and wore a tie to boot. He continuously engaged team on the court all game.

Obviously in a 30 point win plenty to get enthused about but considering how bad things were looking this was really nice

Note: there is tons of team spirit. These guys love each other. They mobbed Holyfield for hitting the 3 in the final seconds

Finally, drive, draw and kick, result three pointers. We now have a starting center, Owens. Hopefully Freudenberg gets Alibecovig's minutes. The kid does have basketball sense plus a great block at the end of the game, Once again, Ponds is unbelievable, such confidence as a freshman. No wonder he was voted top freshman in the Big East. Glad to see Ellison have a much improved game, especially with his passes.

Owens played well 2 games in a row. Credit to Andrew 2 for his recommendation to coach Mullin to play Owens over Sima. And no offensive fouls for Ahmed 2 of the past 3 games. Another one out of the Andrew 2 playbook. Owens is a high energy guy. Fordham's bigs had no inside game. Plays into Owens strengths as he is a very mobile big man. Make that long man. When he has to guard the big bruisers some Big East teams have, Owens will have his troubles.

Nice W , especially w/o Lovett. We are sure lucky Ponds choose us. Owens looked good. I hope the coaches aren't telling Amar to shoot 3s, but he rebounded well. Mussini had an excellent game. Nice passing and shooting. I think Mullin and Mitches shooting tutelage is paying off. Sima was disappointing. If that continues Owens PT will increase.

Sima's play is not even disappointing amy more. It's almost expected. I was glad to see Owens get the start. He may not be great or be our ideal solution but be hustles and deserves more minutes and the start despite his scrawny frame.

Sima is lost. I hope he improves but some of the areas he lacks have to come from within.

Great win! Sat behind the Fordham bench and I reminded their coach about payback. Nice all around effort.

Great to blow them out after last year's nonsense, without Lovett to boot.

Loved the ball movement and obviously happy we shot the 3 again at a high percentage. That has been our strength thus far on the offensive end and, given the personnel, I have no issue with taking as many as we have so long as we are hitting them at a decent clip. When we aren't knocking them down is when this group needs to learn to start taking the ball to hoop more and play differently.

I still think we will need Sima and Yawke in conference play to deal with the bigger more athletic front lines. And still holding out hope that we will see some progress from them; they were the 2 guys I thought would make the biggest jump and Sima, in particular, I thought would provide a decent back to the basket scoring option. If that can develop at all it will make us less reliant on the 3-ball.

Ponds and Lovett will go through their struggles during conference play as 1st year players who will likely wear down given the physicality of the conference, their build/size, and how many minutes they are being asked to play. When they go through the inevitable down period, let's remember that.

There is ability there, and Sima was one of the 2 players (with Yawke) who other Big East coaches went out of their way to compliment last year. I'm hoping that this is just some type of rut. We've seen plenty of examples where true big men really struggle as underclassmen and become very solid contributors as they mature.
