Fordham, Thur. Dec. 8, 6:30pm, FS1/570AM

Small, small, SMALL samples but I think (hope?) the 3 and the block show Freudenberg is starting to get his sea legs.

Yes.But, Mullin needs to tell him that when he has a shot, he needs to be decisive and take the shot - regardless of the result. He passed up at least 3 shots - including a drive or two.

Believe me, Mullin tells everyone to shoot when open.

Something Amar takes very seriously.

Mullin is installing a style of play and you just can't create the proper flow telling guys not to shoot; not saying AA and others take all good shots but that is something it appears the team is learning. To clarify, does AA take bad shots / attempt dopey drives, for sure. But he is what he is and even with Sima leaving I think eventually Freudenberg will take many of AA's minutes; IMO, get ready for small ball as the season goes on.

In this transitional year, small ball with our personnel is a "better watch" for sure. Looking forward to it, despite the interior depth issue.

Wish there was a 5th year transfer still available that is a big wide body.
Even a 2 star kid. Forget scoring and handling the rock.

say a 6-9 260 type. Just be a man, use your weight and strenght and avg atleast 8 boards per game.

Tons of kids walking around looking for schools who can average 8 boards a game, and we have had so many of them over the years. :(

Sorry.. I have been out of states for a bit.. what happened to Lovett? Serious?
All I heard was a sprained ankle, and he was "day to day" , haven't heard anything since.

I can tell you that he was not wearing the walking boot last night, so there is progress being made.

Still, I wouldn't be shocked if Mullin kept him out Sunday. That would give him another full week to rest up for our next game.

In addition to obvious talent, I am so impressed by Ponds' poise and feel for the game.

This is in no way calling you out, because I know you saw a lot of Ponds in high school, and I admittedly didn't see any. I remember you telling us to express patience and that he would need time to grow and he might not contribute right away. Do you feel he's arrived earlier than expected? As always, totally respect your analysis.

Did see him a few times in HS, but frankly never dreamed he would he would commence his college career so effectively. I missed the mark on that thread I started, happy to say. I hoped he would have a similar career arc as Bryce Cotton at Providence, but he seems even better.

I'm not to proud to say that I completely missed the boat on Ponds, mostly because I completely underestimated his outside shot. What I saw when I saw him in high school was more of a slashing 2G, and not the outside threat that he turned out to be. At 6' tall, I had my concerns about the effectiveness of his slashing skills at the high D1 level. Having said that, like Paultz my opinion of him was based on a small sample size. Also like Paultz, I welcome being proven wrong in situations like this.

You and Paultzman were not wrong it is just that you did not know and could not know how great Coach Mullin and Coach Richmond would be with the shooters ;)

There are plenty of players 6'9 and 240 in D2. Even in D3. There are 20 2 star kids that size. But what good is height without any semblance of talent and athleticism. As any woman would tell you, it is not about the size but how you use it. ;)
Forget what could have been with Christian Jones, what could have been if friends and handlers didn't get into the head of a 3 star project, we will move on from Sima's departure and, in the long run, the remaining kids will be stronger and more experienced for sticking with each other.
This will also make Mully more focused as a coach knowing who and when to play certain kids. Better bigs with talent will arrive and we will have 3 very talented guards next year.
Let's enjoy every win and learn from every loss this year.
Of course we will still sarcastically voice game by game opinions and Fun will keep us all grounded with his Maker's Mark inspired witticism.
Hope some of you make it to Barclay's tomorrow and cheer our redmen on to victory!
