If Mullin has Ellison and company deny Joseph Chartouny the ball it should be a win. We have a tendency to make players like Joseph Chartouny look like All World. He is their D'Angelo Harrison and his name better be on the chalk board this week.
He didn't play Saturday against Fordham so maybe he is hurt.
Think it was due to stitches on his elbow or something, would imagine he'll play Thursday.
Fordham's entire game seems predicated on pressing and trapping and turning teams over, which they are doing at an incredible rate - they are 1st in the country in steals. Obviously Marcus will be a big swing factor in how effective we are in handling that.
Fordham also takes a ton of 3s (21st in the country in attempts at 26 per game) but they haven't generally made many (31.5%, 281st in the nation). That said, when you are taking that many if they do go in there's a lot of upside, so something to watch.
Good points! Hopefully with Roomes gone, our guards won't be inclined to help out in the post & thus be aggressive on perimeter. As an aside, something bothersome last night was the amount of easy buckets by our opponent. With our streaky team offensively, we just can't afford to allow that. It goes beyond our interior guys guarding rim. Seems too often opposing guards too easily turn the corner on us.
Looking forward to SJU soundly beating my second alma mater.
Ponds, for as good as he is offensively, is not an intense defender. Neither is Ellison, in addition to not having very good lateral movement. Mussini, while an intense defender, has his limitations size wise and athletically. CSUN had some athletic guards. We are always going to have trouble defending athletic backcourts, and unfortunately our guards are getting very little interior help when they get beat. As my buddy Dave said to me Tuesday, Ponds is going to really get tested when he starts going up against the Harts and Brunsons of college basketball.
True but when we have a center like brown he will make up for our under size guards. This we will have to do our best
