Fordham game

I am going to miss this game (I'm going to the Texas/Temple game at Wells Fargo Center, which is at the same time as our game I think) but when I check the score on my phone I hope to see we are in control most of this game. We gotta see a killer I instinct from this team at some point

Huh? Texas/Temple? Why?
I think he lives in Pennsylvania

You gotta love this kid.

I live delaware, so does my uncle, and he went to Texas. He lives in delaware so you could imagine he doesn't get to go to many Texas games, but they are in town this weekend and he knows I love college basketball so he asked me if I wanted to go. Should be a good game, any college basketball is fun for me, if this was on the same day as Cuse, I would've turned the tickets down, but this is Fordham I hope we get the easy victory.

Can you please explain your interest in SJU basketball since you live in Delaware? Any family affiliation with our school?

Oh yea my dad grew up in queens and went to saint Francis prep for high school and St. John's for college. My two uncles on my dad's side also went to St. John's so yea it runs in the family. As to why I'm such a big fan, my dad of course raised me too root for the johnnies but I was a loose fan during the Anthony Mason jr years (I was really young, and he was the first player I remember as a johnnie) the year I really started becoming a die hard fan with the johnnies was probably 2010 believe it or not. That year was awesome, and the first year I went to a St. John's game (Nova/SJU at Wells Fargo, we won 83-68 I believe) ever since I've been a huge die hard fan and found redmen.com probably like mid way through the year with Harkless and the just six players.

Hey Jack, you're probably one of the guys who joined me in a chorus of We Are...St. John's! as we left Wells Fargo.

Like my kids, who didn't go to SJU but still root hard for them, you deserve 4 stars. Of course, you could still end up going to SJU.

I am a sophomore at a catholic high school, and want to stay in catholic school moving forward to college so I am definitely looking into St. John's and other BE schools like providence.

I was indeed screaming that, I sat next to some nice St. John's fans who were going there at the time I think, the upper level was all St. John's fans I loved it

This sounds like my story 15 years ago (son of an queens born alum but didn't attend sju myself). Welcome to the family!

I don't think Fordham is any better than Georgia Tech. We should be able to beat them relatively easily with a solid effort.

were you on the sly fox trip ?

Stef: Having computer problems. Tried to respond to your PM - message came back to me - could not be sent.

We just arrived. Saturday is not good for me. Let's arrange to get together soon. Will be here until the end of February. Thanks for the information about our friend. Keep in touch.

Mark

Any info on Fordham webcast as MSG is not in South Florida where a growing Redmen contingent gathers this time of year.
i too live in S.FL . I believe game is on Fs1 approximately 1:45.

@StJohnsBBall: Saturday tip on @FOXSports1 was originally 1:32 p.m., but it will now take place 20 mins after Stony Brook-LaSalle. Arrive early! #SJUBB

Game is listed on Sunshine Network (1722 on Uverse Fios) according to the guide I checked after being informed off by Mark Redman.

Fordham gets sky high for us and usually plays well they supposedly get good guard play and can hit some threes which means against us they will probably hit a lot of threes. I am expecting a tough game and will be happy with a win of any kind.

Fordham is coming in with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses.

Fordham has defeated St.Francis- PA, Leigh, Manhattan College and Furman and been defeated by the University of Syracuse, and powerhouse Sacred Heart University.

Kenpom gives Fordham a 15% chance of winning and predicts a St.John's victory with a final score of 78.to 67.

Agreed, Fordham will be up for this game and is probably feeling good after beating Manhattan @ Manhattan last week (bounceback after a bad loss at home to Sacred Heart).

Frazier, Severe, and Mandel Thomas are a formidable backcourt. Severe in particular is lights out from 3 and has made 4 or more in all but one game. Given the issues we've had defending the perimeter for the better part of 14 months, this is where the focus needs to be.

On the flip side Fordham is weak inside. They had 4 bigs to start the year but lost one to eligibility and another took a leave of absence. The two remaining, Rhoomes and Leonard, have not been particularly good this year after pretty good freshman campaigns from both (particularly Leonard). They are prone to foul trouble and as a result Pecora typically only plays one at a time. Bryan Smith, another guard, is the fifth starter.

We need to not let them get off from 3, particularly early, pound the ball inside on the pass and bounce, and press/run. They only really play 7, nobody but the starters plays more than 13 MPG, and Frazier/Severe/Thomas will play 40 or very close to it if the game is within reach. Need to make them work.
