Congrats to the team for a nice win.
This classic in Sunrise had to be the poorest marketed basketball event to have mostly an empty arena with two Florida teams playing!
Thus far we have won every game we were expected to win against mostly inferior competition or teams with down years. Now every game in Big East play will tell us if we deserve an invitation to the dance.
On a positive note, CMA has developed a decent 8 man rotation now that everyone is healthy.
I liked the defensive intensity and better ball distribution.
Curbelo has exceptional passing ability.
One area we failed in the game was allowing Green open looks and giving another opposing player a record scoring game.
Note to coach: recognize this next time and assign a stopper!
Villanova without Jay Wright is just not Villanova.
We should win this one by 10 points or so.

Don't know if someone mentioned but my god the telecast was horrendous. The director must have been drunk because he missed at least 10 points by cuing up the wrong camera. The announcers were just plain bad. Not sure if it was the first time they called a game or if they were hitting the bar with the director
Agree completely
Also the camera angle seemed off

Absolutely right about the marketing. Never saw a billboard or commercial marketing the game. Plus, why call it the Orange Bowl Classic? I don't even know if the Orange Bowl stadium is still around, but it has nothing to do with basketball or Sunrise, Fl. A small crowd, but still great that us transplanted New Yorkers living in Florida got the see the team in person. After the game, Soriano, Curbelo, Jones and Wusu walked into the stands and met with fans and friends and took pictures.

Soriano a very deserving MVP (yes, there was a MVP presentation). He deserves a lot of credit for getting in great shape and hitting the boards like every rebound belongs to him.

I don’t think nova will be a walk in the park.

Dream on.

Villanova at Villanova will be favored.

Kenpom has Nova winning the game 73 to 71 giving the Red Stormers a 41% chance of winning the game.

That sounds about right, I'd say with the way both teams have been playing in the last few games it's almost a coin flip, and you give edge to home team in a coin flip. I like the Johnnies in this game though, I think they'll come out focused and the press will give Villanova problems, their PG play isn't the best. The key is will we have guys able to hit shots the road.

I can't even name the Nova coach without looking it up.
Fans here will be very disappointed if you are correct but with students on Christians break I don't think the Pavillion will be as intimidating as usual.
I think our chances of winning improve after this FSU win to better than 50% and I am dreaming of a win.

Our next six Big East games (before we have to go to UConn on January 15th) will set the tone for the season. We have struggled to get off to fast starts in league play but will hopefully do better this year. Under CMA here is how we have fared against these opponents in Big East regular season play:

1) At Villanova 0-3
2) Xavier at home 2-1
3) At Seton Hall 1-2
4) Marquette at home 1-1
5) At Providence 1-2
6) Butler at home 2-1

I think it is important for this team to improve on these past results and get positioned to finish near the top of the league. I am not sure if we will be favored in more than half of these games, but we certainly should not be huge underdogs in any of them. Establishing a winning culture in league play will determine what type of year we will have.

We should win a bunch of BE games if we play like we played today:

83% FT
44% 3 Pointers
30 points off TOs
Limit our TOs

That free throw number is what sticks out to me, I've said this many times before, give me a team that shoots free throws well and defends and I'll take them all day every day over a team that's good at shooting 3's. You can win a lot of college basketball games just simply knowing how to draw fouls, make free throws, and defend well.

Posh, Curbelo, Jones, and Mathis have all been good free throw shooters this year, if Soriano can become a consistent 70% free throw shooter as well as much as he gets fouled that would be huge.

As far as the 3 point shooting, they are going to have some good days like today, there's guys on the team that have proven they can shoot like Pinzon, Storr, Wusu, Jones, and even Curbelo. Nobody has just really been consistent yet.
