Schools identified by Yahoo! as having players who possibly violated NCAA rules include Duke, North Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan State, USC and Kansas. At least 25 players are linked to impermissible benefits, including Michigan State's Miles Bridges, Alabama's Collin Sexton and Duke's Wendell Carter.

At least six players were identified in the documents as receiving payments exceeding $10,000. They include Dallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr., who received $73,500 in loans from ASM before he played for NC State; Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Isaiah Whitehead, who received more than $37,000 around the time he was a freshman at Seton Hall; and 2017 No. 1 NBA draft pick Markelle Fultz, who received $10,000.

Other teams with current or former players who allegedly received payments were South Carolina, Louisville, Utah, Xavier, Wichita State, Clemson and Alabama. Other players named include former LSU guard Tim Quarterman, former Maryland center Diamond Stone and former Kentucky center Edrice "Bam" Adebayo.

Is building a dorm specifically (but not exclusively) for basketball players with a private chef an impermissible benefit? How about a unique no-show African American history class? Has anyone checked the no money down luxury cars all the top players drive? This crap has been going down since Jim Valvano would fly recruits to Raleigh in private jets and greeted by comely coeds. The NCAA would penalize St. John's for Keita and allow Kentucky and Louisville parties with hookers. Bernie Fine's wife provided private tutoring to players while the hubby was bending over backwards to make kids happy.
The whole system needs to be blown up!

I understand your point but Louisville did get punished for hooker gat although Pitino wasn’t (it took this scandal to get Louisville get rid of him)

Several schools for years had dorms only for football players. Some got rid of them because of some really bad scandals. Programs including ours have what they call “training tables” which are basically meal plans just for their scholarship athletes (walk-ons are not allowed). So is flying recruits to campus on a private jet for official visits. These are permissible like it or not and all schools should they so desire can take advantage of it. The other crap isanother story..

St John’s go caught and punished. Even though some feel it was harsh, we were guilty. Suspect the NCAA probably thought there was more to it considering who the player was I mean c’mon Abe Keita?

UNC got off because of smart lawyers and the fact the no-show was open to everyone not just athletes (which looks bad on the University as a whole) but the feeling of fairness I totally get and agree to some extent (again we were guilty)

It will be interesting how this plays out with my biggest hope being, we are clean.

Per ESPN

FBI wiretaps intercepted telephone conversations between Arizona coach Sean Miller and Christian Dawkins, a key figure in the FBI's investigation into college basketball corruption, in which Miller discussed paying $100,000 to ensure star freshman DeAndre Ayton signed with the Wildcats, sources familiar with the government's evidence told ESPN.

According to people with knowledge of the FBI investigation, Miller and Dawkins, a runner working for ASM Sports agent Andy Miller, had multiple conversations about Ayton. When Dawkins asked Sean Miller if he should work with assistant coach Emanuel "Book" Richardson to finalize their agreement, Miller told Dawkins he should deal directly with him when it came to money, the sources said.

The telephone calls between Miller and Dawkins were among 3,000 hours of conversations intercepted from Dawkins' phone alone by the FBI.
Matt looking for Rawle’s number :)
Probably have to go through his agent first.

Yahoo article & Rawle

“Dawkins writes to Andy Miller and others: “coach book from Arizona called me and basically told me he wants me to take [current Arizona guard] rawle alkins. He said he is picking the agent, period….What’s your position on the situation?”

On Aug. 20, Dawkins follows up on Alkins: “Book at Arizona has the juice with the situation, they’re going to listen to him. Nobody else is involved besides book, the kid and Rodney (the cousin). The mom has say but I think she will depend on Rodney. He can get stuff done.” (Richardson was fired last month after his arrest in the federal probe.”

Theo just posted this link on twitter:

Basically every Lavin recruit has been mentioned in the scandal, including kids that signed here and played. I don’t think that is a coincidence.

Something was always off about Miller. Can’t explain it. Always had a feeling he would be a part of this kind of thing

Another thing, I remember when Alkins was about to commit. A lot of people on here were hearing good news, and a lot of people thought we were gonna get Alkins. Arizona seemed to take control late in the recruitment, with days left before commitment. Makes you wonder if some money was put on the table to sway him one direction

What do you mean “every Lavin recruit has been mentioned in the scandal?” The link you posted was from a survey conducted in 2012 and is devoid of a single fact.

Alkins, Briscoe, Kyle Anderson, Whitehead.... the list goes on for players that were thought to be committing here only to switch last second and go somewhere else.

Basically every Lavin recruit. And facts or not, where there’s smoke there’s fire. That article wasn’t written for fun without some knowledge behind it.

He just means "I don't like Lavin."

I would still like to know what really went down with Wilson and UConn last year.
