Not too often, has SJU been positioned this well early in recruiting cycle. Having attainable goal of replacing Heron and Figueroa as best you can via Juco route seems way to go.
Yes, SJU still needs a big, but they still have a few irons in fire in Josh G & Max A. All in all in a rebuilding year, kudos to CMA & staff. Sure beats scrambling in April, parking lot transcript exchanges, etc.

Excellent post which should be read more than once as it so accurately reflects our disappointing recruiting history. Last time we were well positioned so early in the recruiting process was Lavins first season at SJU. The fact that this staff has gotten a very good commitment in August and is so well positioned with so many very high level recruits speaks to this staffs game plan, hard work , realistic goals , vision for the program and experience. This is not happening by luck.
Kudos to CMA and staff
Continue to put your face out there, go to all the top event, aau tourny's, stay in contact with your targets, and good things will happen for SJU.
Start winning big time, and the big talent will start taking notice.
You'll always have kids in awe of coach K, Izzo, Roy Williams, ect.
But you'll get other kids that don't care about them, get top NYC kids that want to represent their city, do their thing in MSG in front of friends and fams.
I think that Mike Anderson’s recruiting will mirror Izzo’s a lot more than any others. Izzo doesn’t always go after the top kids and goes after a lot of guys that fit what he wants to do in his system. He’s a consistent winner but he doesn’t have the pipeline of paid-in-full guys that Coach K and Roy do. A lot of kids also don’t want to put in all the hard work that Izzo has to dish out. From what I’ve seen of Mike Anderson it serms he works his kids realIy hard as well. think both guys are more old school and avoid the tightrope walk that other coaches do. I don’t mind that model because while it may not land all the top guys, Izzo is mega-consistent. Anderson has been consistent through his career, if not as mega-successful. Hopefully at SJU he has the right fit and pieces he needs to get us winning consistently, which is important for us rebuilding our program.
