this is the most active staff in recent memory. Really awesome to see.
Just goes to show you what a truly professional staff can accomplish in a short amount of time

It's amazing how quickly the complaints about why our staff isn't at various recruiting events is beginning to seem like a distant memory. All good stuff happening at SJU - that's bound to pay off.

St. John’s will be at West Oaks Academy (FL) next week on Tuesday or Wednesday to see four-star wing Selton Miguel & others, per source #sjubb

I'm even more glad that we no longer have to read posts making excuses for why our staff would no-show events.

I can’t help but think that Mullin and company totally dogged their job and responsibilities to SJU and its fan base! When I think of the money they paid these guys for 4 years it’s a travesty!!!!! To me it’s tantamount to stealing! This experiment with Mullin and company should have came to a halt after 2 years! All parties should be held accountable especially the President of the University
Let’s hope that CMA can right this ship!!!!

This thread is about the staff’s visits this fall not what the prior staff did not do. I truly do not see the reason to bring up the prior staff, criticize them or derail this pleasant thread. Our current staff seems to be working very hard on all ends and meeting with success to date. Let’s leave Chris and Mitch out of this thread.

Amen!

Posh done, Cole looking great, Guess is very attainable. Not too often, has SJU been positioned this well early in recruiting cycle. Having attainable goal of replacing Heron and Figueroa as best you can via Juco route seems way to go.

Yes, SJU still needs a big, but they still have a few irons in fire in Josh G & Max A. All in all in a rebuilding year, kudos to CMA & staff. Sure beats scrambling in April, parking lot transcript exchanges, etc. :)

I love the idea of landing two top flight JUCOs to replace potential losses and balance out classss.

Great post Paultzman, couldn't agree more. Regarding the need for a big, this may be a little over the top glass half full view, but if Steere is the real deal and Roberts continues to improve this year, we may be ok in 2020 with those two plus Champagnie & Sears up front even if we are unable to land Gray or Max A. and have to settle for more of a project frosh big.

I don’t see Roberts ever being a real “big”. We need another guy who can bang inside aside from Steere. I love what we are doing recruiting-wise. It’s a breath of fresh air to have a full staff who goes out and earns their salary by doing what it takes. All hands are on deck recruiting-wise and it’s refreshing.

If we can land a kid like Cole coming out of the fall we are in great shape. Any others and it’s gravy. We are certainly rebuilding and next couple recruiting classes will really shape the Iron Mike era. Every scholarship counts.

As far as soph’s go, I can see us retaining everybody along the way as we get more talented overall. Things will shake out.

As I understand, no.
Why is everyone so sure that LJ is leaving after this season?
We barely got him to come back this season. Took a looong time to re-commit to the team. Prevailing wisdom is that he’s gonna leave as he’s a bit older and I’m sure wants to make money somewhere playing basketball. If he comes back, even better but I don’t think we should get our hopes up.

Because that's what St. John's fans do.

I think LJ looked at his options when the staff left. We all thought OMG what now!. If he enjoys his Jr year under CMA why not comeback for his Sr year. Under the prior coaching staff everyone had their foot out the door. Including the Coaches who would rather spend time in California.
I really Hope going forward kids see their experience at St John’s as life experience not just a stepping stone to making money in Basketball
